Hello

I have been selling on eBay for about 3 years my Ebay business went into Top Rated Seller status rather quickly as well as power seller status until I had a buyer who after one month of having my item contact me and question the authenticity of my item. She didn't want to return the item but
wanted a patial refund. That made me wonder if she just had buyers remorse. so to make a long story short she left Neutral feedback saying the item was not authentic.

Sense then my sales have been down a graet deal. So I start a new seller acount with the same exact items and my sales are back up. It is hard for me to understand how 1 feedback can slow down the sales of a top rated seller. I don't wanna think that maybe another seller of the same type of items may have purchased my item so the can leave bad feedback to slow my sells down.

It sucks to know the I can sell more items as a new seller then I can as a Top Rated seller. I feel like all my hard work to become a Top Rated Seller was all for nothing.

Not an unfamiliar story in regards to competitors trying to destroy accounts with feedback unfortunately, although that is extreme for a single neutral feedback to have that sort of impact on a Top Rated account.

It's also quite doubtful if the aim of the customer was to damage your account, as I would have expected a Negative within a very short time of the transaction being completed, in fact I've dealt with that myself a few times over the years.

The data you have put forward certainly seems to point to that Neutral causing the issues, but I just can't believe it personally. That said, I have absolutely no idea what could cause a Top Rated seller account to seriously under perform against a new account, given that everything is equal.

Completely bizarre!

Sorry to hear about your troubles on eBay. As Marc pointed out, unfortunately, this isn't an uncommon situation for eBay sellers.

Although, I must agree with Marc that it seems very bizzare that you would lose your PowerSeller or Top Rated status from just one neutral feedback?

If I were you, I would certainly be chasing up eBay and asking why your status was revoked.

Achieving PowerSeller or Top Rated status is a big achievement and one that you should be proud of! And while it's not harder to achieve and maintain these statuses on eBay now, compared to 3 years ago when you started out, you've clearly got some strong skills there so don't give up!

Keep pushing on eBay, and consider expanding onto some other marketplaces like Amazon or Bonanza or consider Link hidden: Login to view, the easiest way to get your own store up and running.

Just wanted to clear things up. I never lost my power sellers status I am still a top rated seller on the other account.

The thing that gets me is that I sold over 300.00 worth of items this week on my new account and only an amazing 3.99 with my top rated account which I think is simply based on the one neutral feedback. Which was really unfairly given because all my product are Authentic.

Don't worry about Alice, she's with us in body, but not mind at the moment. That's already left on Christmas Holiday lol

Isn't that right Alice? .... : )

Have you checked your product listings on both accounts in the search results, maybe your new account listings are ranking higher for some reason. One thing about eBay buyers, most are lazy and will jump on a product if it's what they want without digging down too far.

It just stuns me that this Neutral could be having this effect. I have had negs on accounts from a-holes trying to do damage, but they didn't have any impact on my sales at all, so this is just too weird!

Thanks guys for all the help I guess everything will work out for me. Maybe I will just have top rated accounts. See the thing is I sell Name Brand Cosmetics and other skin care products. So just one bad feedback about the Authenticity of an item can really hurt.

Hi again,

Sorry for misinterpreting you beautyshop!

I can see why Marc said he was baffled by your situation, I am too!

I wonder if your listings on your new account have different listing titles, or some other element, that makes them rank higher in search results than your Top Seller account, therefore giving them more visibilty than listings on your TRS account?

But then again, eBay's search algorithm prefers accounts with TRS or PowerSeller status and ranks them higher than new accounts...

Surely a single neutral feedback can't hold that much weight?
