I've been doing this for the past few days , Its great :) I've been getting all of these too good to be true quotes for 3gs iphones and n97's from Exporters SG . So I ask where the items are located , when they say Hong kong , I reply great ! I'm having a 2 day layover in Hong kong next week can I drop in and see the items before I buy ??
If you never hear from them again its a scam , some however do give you an address and encourage a fly in and buy and for this reason i am seriously thinking of going for a trip to suss things out .
Cheers :)
Here's a business opportunity for you from left field.
I'm sure there would be plenty here who would love to be able to fly to Asia and do their own sourcing, however the next best thing might just be to have a sourcing agent they could trust to do the foot work for them.
: )
Word of warning, using a line like that will scare away some of the less eager scammers, however if anyone does try that line and you do hear back.....it's no guarantee that it's still not a scam.
There are some very experienced scammers out there, and they will see that one coming a mile away, then use it to play you into a false sense of security.
Yes the more I think about it the more I'm convicing myself of flying up to Hong Kong and checking out suppliers . Not sure if I would know where to start over there though , Trade shows perhaps . There's only so much info you can find online .
I wonder if Singapore would better option ???
You might try contacting the US Embassy for a translator or they may send you in the right direction.
If you do go. Make sure to purchase some things to sell when you get home to pay for the trip. Ship the items from Hong Kong to your house.

Interesting post! If you can't go, someone else can be your representative at the Hong Kong Trade Fair...for a fee of course! :)
