Hello,

I live in Canada and the shipping rates are absolutely ridiculous.
I've found some items at 5$ that could sell for a 10$ (clothes) but the cheapest shipping rate I've found is 17$ to Canada or USA (2 to 7 days of delivery)!!!

Do you guys know if it's possible to ship for a few bucks ??

Regards,

Well Wholesale importing is of course a vastly different animal to international Dropshipping. Even though with Wholesale you are shipping volume and that's going to cost, you're also saving on the purchase price because you're investing in bulk.

With Dropshipping, it's about how much the supplier is going to charge you for shipping to your customer as you aren't actually doing the shipping. So to be really sure on shipping rates, you really need to discuss with your supplier. They may well already have volume discounts available to them through their shipper (whoever that happens to be)

Cheers

Hi,
We are in Canada as well and we've just got a deal for selling products and shipping them ourselves. The products are under $10. We found that the ways to get the best deals were calling the shipping companies themselves and asking for a better deal than their website offers. We explained how much we estimated we would be shipping and they came back with a better quote that allows us to ship our products cheaper. We asked for a flat rate for each package that we ship, We are just waiting for the final quotes from them.

Also there are a couple of companies that allow you to ship through them. flagshipcompany.com will give you the best courier deals and there is a company in Toronto that will drive your packages over the border for a cost and then ship them using USPS or UPS US which result in cheaper shipping if you live near Toronto. I am sure there are more out there as well!

I hope that helps!

Hi,
You do have a challenge going from Canada to US. I'm glad that Stephen shared about "how to". You may do well with drop shipping - particularly when the drop shipper includes the shipping cost in their pricing. I'm pretty new to being a manufacturer and that's how I've set up my drop ship price, it's inclusive of US shipping. I've been making a living online for a few years now. If I can help you with advice/opinion, I'm glad to share information with you.

I have run into this same issue time and time again.
I was saved when I hooked up with Chris at americanmailbox.net. First I was using that for receiving packages/forwarding.
But after talking with him he was VERY willing to handle import/packaging AND shipping out of products - effectively becoming my dropshipper for anything I wanted to bring in. He does it for several people already.
Give him a call - it will end your frustrations - did for me. =)

Hi

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering if you knew the name of the Toronto company that will drive your packages over the border?
