Hi Guys/Gals!

I have a question regarding freight carriers. I do have a large package that i want to ship via freight because UPS Ground will not let me ship it via ground because of its dimensions. How do you go about shipping freight? I tried to ship it but it has a lot of stuff that you have to put in like the Class, Discounts, Bill of Lading, Etc. Sorry if I sound like a newbie but i have never shipped using freight carriers. I only ship ground LOL!

Check into something called MBAGS at your US Postal Service office.

The USPS (not UPS) has actually made it alot easier to ship things by mail overseas, or by large weight and parcel now.

The cost for shipping can actually be LOWER than it is to send normal priority mail or parcel priority mail.

The reason for this is the Postal Service's new program is designed to help anyone with a business. Such as a shipping business etc., it is designed to ease the rate of transfer for shipping rates or shipping internationally.

Additionally there are also services such as EMS in China, & elsewhere which do freight. Pickup or import/export can be expensive though. So always be sure to go to the Postal center and get questions answered first.

Check into your local Post Office for more information and always specify what the minimum weight is. Then they can normally tell you direct, what the rate will likely be and how best you would want to ship that item.

Sorry for the delay; but for those reading the POST, PLEASE-PLEASE do not be limited to UPS and USPS; go to the TRUCKING COMPANIES, also! I used to work IN AN OFFICE for a LARGE trucking company, :D they are just real people, too!!

I ADVISE DRIVING TO THE OFFICE and asking for their advise. Explain the situation to them. Ask for their expertise. They know things you/we do not. They can make suggestions we have not thought of. Strapping/Pallets where they are; how to do it, who can do it, if it is needed; wrapping with plastic, etc, etc. Even ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS FOR THOSE FORMS, tell you what questions are necessary, which are NOT, go figure!! Getting it picked up and put on the truck from your home.

I recommend going to the office if at all possible, it is best to explain things in person, to describe in person. If you can not go, then just call. If you do not know WHO to call, look in the phone book, or look who passes you on the road. Call them, they will route you to the local office. :P

GO for the GUSTO!! Do not be afraid to try something new! I have friends that are truckers!! They are real guys...just like you. They just drive instead of going to an office for a job! They see trees instead of a cube! But, they get the JOB DONE! We NEED THEM! USE THEM! GO DO IT! :D
