I am new to importing items by ship into NZ. Normally I stick to courier services but a new supplier has preference for sending by ship to keep the product cost down.

Has anyone had experience with receiving items by ship to Port Of Auckland? What is the process do I get a call when the ship arrives and my items are ready to pick up or am I supposed to keep an eye out on the shipping timetable? Where do I pick the package up from? Do I just need the invoice.

As you can see I have no clue so any help would be much appreciated.

Contact Port of Auckland -- they'll be able to provide you with all of the information you need. You might consider retaining the services of an import agent, who can streamline the process for you dramatically.

Hi Bhogan,

Welcome to SaleHoo :)

Yes, Frank's right. For first timer importers might be best to seek the help of a customs broker to help you out with all the paper work and arrangements.

You might find some of the info helpful in this guide - Link hidden: Login to view Please scan halfway down the page for the guide on Importing to New Zealand.

All the best! :)
