New Generic 2GB Ipod Nano STYLE Video MP3/MP4 Player

I see these all the time on eBay and not sure if this was against the rules, i believe on the quiz they have a quiz referring to this and i believe they said it was ok. Not positive. If you dont use the word Apple and in your auction listing you make it clear that it isnt an Apple product is this ok?

If it is not an Apple Ipod then it is not ok to list Apple in the title but it is done all the time. I guess it is just a matter of getting caught.

I'm sure Apple and Ipod are trade names registered with Apple, so be careful

I agree with grahamg, as apple and Ipod are registered trade names and could get you in trouble, if you use them outright in the title. However it is allowable to 'compare to' a brand name, within your listing description, such as 'compare this mp3 player to to the ipod nano'....

It's advisable to put a copyright/trademark sign by the names and a small disclaimer at the end of your listings about the owner and affiliation.

Here's an alt code reference sheet if you're not sure how to do a copyright/tm symbol:

Even saying 'Similar to' such-and-such without referencing the proper copyright holder to the name can create a problem for you if you get big enough.
