Goodness gracious! I am new to all of this and it took me a pot of coffee and half the evening to read through ebay's listing fee schedule. It seems to me that you can't fart without them getting a piece of your air.

Just for a ballpark figure what is the average listing fees y'all payout.

I am looking to promote items with a sale price target of $150 - $250.

hey, i use the website ebcalc.com to get an idea of the fees you will pay. it depends on what price you start your item at. your insertion fee to list the item will range from .15- 2.00. once the item sells, you pay a final value fee of $2.19 for the first $25.00 of the sell price then 3.5 % on the rest of the sell price. so for a $150.00 item, you ebay fees would be $6.56 for the final value fee plus your insertion fee. then of course if you accept paypal, you pay another fee....paypal charges .30 plus 2.9% of the amount you receive. that would be about another $4.65 on $150.00....so in total, you are paying about $7.00 to ebay and another 4-5 dollars to paypal on a $150.00 transaction....i hope this helps.

I pay an average of $400-$700 a month in fees through ebay and about that much amount on paypal also but now I have my own merchant provider that I use to accept credit cards through ebay and I have to say, it is much cheaper than paypal and the best thing is, you have full control over the funds.

I can let you have some software that creates the sales page for you.

Or I could create the whole site for you? For a small fee? PM me if you're interested.

you could try using phpprobid.com software to create a site. If you want to check it out,It is used on auction-one.com which is a full working auction site, of course you'll still have to advertise to get traffic started on your site but hey it gets around having to pay all those ebay fees

Probid is a great program. I just installed it on my site at Link hidden: Login to view

It is a bit pricier than some of the other programs available but you get what you pay for and this program has a lot of neat features.
If you can do a bit of the computer work yourself you can save their installation fee. I had the site up an running in about 45 minutes.

I just couldn't manage to squeak out a living with the way things are on ebay these days.

I'll get back to the business of selling my own items after I have built up a decent flow of traffic to the new site -- but ebay will not get another penny from me.

My question is can you recommend any other payment gateways?

I'd like to get clear of paypal in the process too and completely cut all ties with ebay and company.

Thanks for any info...

Okay. I'm sure you can find a template for that online easy enough. I thought you wanted to program a mutli-user site.

Try looking through these open source pre-designed web templates. You might find what you are looking for there.
