I have a customer that bought an item from me which he paid through paypal but when i logged on to my paypal account, her payment is not there. I mean it shows on my ebay account that it has been paid through paypal, but like i said, when i logged in to my paypal account, her payment is not showing up. Any thought of what is happening? I emailed my customer like 5 times already but so far, she hasn't replied to one of my emails. But before she paid the item, she said that she was having trouble paying through paypal. I just don't get it though how her payment is not showing up on my account through paypal. Usually when i receive payments, paypal will give me a notice via my email address.

I would call paypal and and ask. More than likely if you did not get a notice from paypal saying that you have received a payment, you probably have not received one...

Another thing you must be cautious about is a buyer can mark an item as paid in their 'my ebay' page. It will then show in your 'my ebay' page as, a '$' sign and when you hover the mouse over it or click it it will say 'buyer has marked this items as payment sent'..

How ever this does not mean that an actual payment has indeed been sent, it just means that the customer has said that they have sent payment...Most of the time this is what you get when a customer is paying by money order or personal check...

I would not ship the item until you received notice from paypal that you have received a payment and it shows up in your transaction history on paypal....

It could all just be a tech foul-up but don't fall for the old 'the checks in the mail'...

Thanks gulfy13 for the reply. I really appreciate it. It is really weird because it says on my ebay account that 'check out completed' where the basket sign is in BOLD. then it says 'this payment has been paid through paypal' and the $ sign is Bold. When i point my cursor to the $ sign, it doesn't say 'buyer has marked this item as payment sent', rather it says 'this item has been paid through paypal', but the weird this is her payment is not showing on my account. I emailed her alot of times already but no reply until now. it's been 4 days.

I think i know what the problem is. The same thing happened to me, i found out that i SUPPLIED THE wrong paypal address when i sold the item.

So its most likely that the payment is unclaimed or has gone to the wrong paypal address. Paypal told me to send this instructions to the buyer:

Here's what you need to do to cancel an 'Unclaimed' transaction:

1. Log in to your account at Link hidden: Login to view

2. Click the 'History' tab.

3. Select the relevant dates in the Date box and click 'Search' .

4. Click 'Cancel' in the Action column of the unclaimed
transaction.
(You may only cancel a payment that has a status of 'Unclaimed' and a
'Cancel' button in the Action column).

5. Click 'Cancel Payment'.

6. The funds from the cancelled payment will be returned to either
the
sender's credit card or the balance of their PayPal account, depending
on
the funding source used for the original payment. A credit to a credit
card
may take up to 30 days to process, depending on the card issuer.

When they have done that just tell them to pay again using another method

it worked for me

You can request her contact details and get her phone number on ebay. Then just call her up and politely inquire as to what has happened..

Keep in mind that when ebay gives you her contact info they will also give her yours..You can only get this info when in a transaction with a member...

Thanks gulfy13! She already emailed me and now i know exactly what happened. She sent the funds to the wrong paypal id. I don't know how but how can she mistakenly send the funds to a wrong paypal id when i sent her an invoice on ebay?

Happens all the time..When they log in to pay, they type in the id instead of selecting it from the list provided...Simple typo..

It was my first time dealing with this kind of situation but i am glad to say that it all worked out fine now. She contacted paypal customer services and she said they reseted her account. I was really worried because i thought i had my account hacked so i contacted ebay's customer service and they looked into my account to see if it was tampered with and they did not see anything suspecious. So my only thought on this was the ebayer was a newbie and probably did something wrong but i am glad it's over now =)

Yeah paypal do charge a high fee so i took jimmy's advice to accept bidpay. And the good thing about bidpay is when a customer send you a payment, it will be deposited directly to your bank account which is really nice because you don't have to worry about the risk of your account being locked up or even wait for the 3-4 day for the funds to transfer to your bank account.

Thanks so much guys for helping me out. I really appreciate everything. =)

Hi- I just went thru the same thing only it was 17 buyers .They all paid but the money went into cyber-space somewhere. I had to shut my ebay store down to stop this nightmare.Ebay said I should try to fix the problem myself ,Paypal said ebay should be able to help you,my buyers are a little confused and are asking a lot of questions, that I surely can't answer.I just shut down, probably cost me my 100% feedback rating. It is understandable why ecrater and blujay are growing so fast.Just me spewing venom. Thanks Jim

Hello There!

The best practice to avoid mistakes and heavy errors with Ebay and PayPal is:

Seller needs to configure Ebay profile, and login to PayPal and add ebay account directly in PayPal.

I did this. and never had been paid mistakenly or i paid in error.

It's just weird how a buyer can mistakenly paid the wrong account. I mean the persons name on the account is not me, and the paypal id she sent payment to was not mine either because she sent me an email regarding payment details and this is what is show me. The one thing that i don't get though is why it is showing on my ebay account that it has been paid through paypal? I mean, yeah she did pay through paypal but not on my account. I still have the payment details she emailed me so if you guys what to see it, i can post it here so everybody can see it.

Oh and i did add my ebay account directly to my paypal account =)

It probably showed up on ebay as being paid because of the transaction numer. (auction number)..You can put the wrong name, id's, and things like that but you can't really change the transaction number on the invoices, and the system was just showing the item paid for that transaction number...

this happened to me yesterday. i got an email from 'paypal' saying that the money had been deposited but when i checked my paypal account nothing was shown as deposited. I contacted paypal and they said that this was a FAKE SPOOF mail. they would never have sent the email i recieved. The email also said that as soon as i sent a tracking number the fund would be released. They are trying to get you to click on anything in the email or got to their fake email to try and phish for any info to break into your accounts. CONTACT paypal. they will tell you to forward the email to Link hidden: Login to view. Also, contact ebay and they will tell you what you need to do to get your final sales percentage refunded to you because this is most likely a fake buyer.
