Hello, I am somewhat new to this selling online thing...and need any type of advice that anyone can give me. On occasion I will browse ebay just to see if I can get an idea of how much items are selling for and I have noticed that a lot of the items selling are selling really low, probably more like 75%-80% of the retail price! I have checked most of the wholesale or discount sites that not only salehoo reccommends, but i also do my own reserach and it seems like it is almost impossible to sell things for a good profit, if any at all? My question is how do people make money selling online/ebay if they sell items so low?

Thanks in advance
Victoria

Hi Victoria. The reason that you see so many items selling at prices lower than you see on the wholesale sites is because the people are either getting them through liquidation sites and closeouts, or have enough capital to buy huge bulk orders.

Keep in mind that most of the stuff you see listed on ebay is actually selling at below wholesale prices..

You need to check places like 'liquidators.com' and 'surplus.net' if you want to get items (in bulk) at prices you can resell on ebay for a profit..

Most people who are selling through those venues are selling large quanities of the items, so they only have to make a small profit on them. For example if you could sell 100 widgets per day, and were making 3 dollars profit per widget, that would be acceptable. But if you could only sell 10 widgets per day, you would have to have a much higher markup price on them..

Alot of the people you see selling are running dozens of auctions per day and some hundreds, They only need to make a couple of dollars per item to be profitable overall...

Is the iPhone for $679 actual wholesale cost though? I have a source where I can get it at around $550. Other than that it seems there are some good prices on other items.

The iPhone is the only product we have that is not at wholesale prices. It is the cheapest we are able to purchase and supply it. The only reason we have it listed is due to the number of requests for it. We are almost out of stock again and will not be reordering them.
