Hi All,

I am looking for an ebay alternative due to the fees and cut throat policies.
I remember seeing a link with a whole bunch of alternative websites here, but I cannot make up my mind on one or 2 website.
So just asking everyones help who have had success in using any of the websites to give your opinion and help me choose the top 5 may sites that I can move with.

One more thing I wanted to ask is about using ecrater.com website. I created an account and uploaded few products and think done everything the way it should be to open a store....but nothing happened from past 2 months. Is anyone using it and how to go about it...what nesxt after creating store?? I am struck...help please

Thanks in advance for reading this and helping me find an alternative

There are so many, what are loosely termed eBay competitors, out in the marketplace today that you can't keep count. Now I say loosely termed competitors because of the criteria they are measured on to be called competitors.

Alternatives... yes, but competitors... Just because it is an online selling platform doesn't automatically qualify it to be a competitor to eBay. Unfortunately, eBay's traffic flow is in a different postcode (zip) code to most and in a completely different universe to many.

There are many factors that can influence a sale, but the absolute key factor is having customers, and eBay delivers that better than anyone else. The more traffic, the higher your chances of a sale, it's that simple!

Now that's not to say that it's not worth using these alternative sites. It's all about market exposure. While it does at times seem like everyone shops on eBay, they do not. As a seller you need to cover the market to the best of your ability and budget.

I suggest that you should have a presence on all the free listing sites such as Ecrater and Bonanza, just don't expect the same results as eBay. Ultimately, I think eBay should be part of any online sellers overall marketing strategy, it's simply to important to ignore it, despite the pain they can be at times.

Hi Sweet,

I agree with Fudjj, there are a lot - Amazon, Craigslist, eBid, Overstock, Online Auction, BlueJay, eCrater, Bonanzle, or even through your own website. Just keep in mind that eBay still gets the most traffic of any auction site so although the fees can be a bit of a pain, they are likely the same as to what you'd pay to drive traffic to your own e-Commerce store. Plus it's certainly a lot cheaper than having a physical store and doing lots of marketing for that.

Many sellers sell on 3 or 4 different sites to get the benefit of numerous audiences so if you can't decide, try both.

Hello Wise People!

I am looking for any potentially good auction site that supports CCNOW payment be offered to my buyers just like I do with ioffer.com (this isn't good for me)

ccnow act as my retailer, accept all major credit card payment along with PayPal funds.

I really don't want to have PayPal at my own, so CCNOW does on behalf of me ! !

I contacted Bonanza but they denied !

Look Forward Hearing From You Anyone !

Cheers

Hi

I also where denied by bonanza.

Here is the mail

"A buyer contacted you from your booth page at Link hidden: Login to view

Buyer message:
Hi,

Your booth has been flagged as being high risk. This is due to no feedback and high cost/high risk items (has nothing to do with you personally). If you can import feedback from eBay then we can most likely consider getting you approved. If you have any questions you can contact our fraud prevention department at support@bonanza.com"

This is what i wrote back

"Hi

Sorry to hear that, but maybe i come back later an other time."

This is the reply back

"Hi Steinar,

We like Bonanza to be as safe as possible and sometimes need to do some screening when a new seller comes on board. We do have a number of sellers here that don't have any experience on eBay, more and more as time goes on. :-) Have you ever sold anyplace else or are you new to it? We'd like to have you on board."

So i wrote them back. But not got an answer yet.

So try and talk to them and u might come on board at bonanza too, if u want that.

Good luck:)

And thx for the links from salehoo and the tips:)
And thx to u too for the ccnow. Gonna look into that too.

Steinar

Hi Steinar,

Thanks for sharing your Bonanza experience with us. I'm sure other members will find it helpful.

But the case of saaz is a bit different, he got denied because of the payment method he is using. From the reviews I read Bonanza is not compatible with the CCNow system.

Cheers!
