This was just sent to me via my Amazon sellers account and I thought some of you might find it useful or at least interesting!

Amazon regularly reviews the products their customers look for on their website. The products listed below are the top 50 products in the Electronics category that customers were interested in during the last month, but are currently unable to purchase because there was no available inventory from any sellers as of July 12, 2010.

Could this be part of Amazon.com's Suggested Products feature? I recently, read on auctionbytes that Amazon will provide its sellers with a list of products which are highly sought after yet are low in supply... What do you think? Although the new feature can be seen at the bottom of Amazon's homepage. I shared the link in another thread but in case you'd like to read more about it, here's the link:

I believe so... it's interesting b/c if you visit some of the products you'll see they are literally all out! No one has any to offer for purchase and yet these are the ones that people are looking to buy---

Definitely a good situation if you can find a way to offer any of those products for sale! :)

Yes, thanks Lance, with that sort of information being available to sellers I would think more would start looking at Amazon as their primary marketplace. That really is giving sellers vital information and helping their shoppers at the same time by encouraging suppliers to fill those gaps.

For eBay sellers, would be worth doing some research to see if those results transfer across.

Exactly, fudjj. Amazon just made the competition (with eBay) a bit edgier :) I mean who wouldn't want to know a specific product to sell that is in demand with no supply?!

But knows maybe eBay will pull something out of their sleeves to counter this... But for now I think everyone should make the most out of what Amazon is offering - potential sales for everybody!

The "high demand/low supply" nexus is a definitely a great opportunity for anyone with an established Amazon seller account and a decent local market for goods. If you have access to a Sam's, Cosco or similar getup or can find a given high demand item on sale -- or can find its nearest competitor -- you can do well on low quantity orders, even in some cases sell them before you take delivery of the product (make 100,000% sure you can actually fill the order if you do this, of course.)

Even though these will often be low-margin sales, it's not hard to profit from them if you have the basic "infrastructure" in place (ie. an established seller account and a decent retail market in your area.) And another way to look at "low margin sales" is "cheap leads."
