I'm not sure about this one, but it looks like something to be wary of? I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well?

I have an item on ebay and I received a 'question' from b1c5r36ogjvg7( 0) which is this:

Dear friend, this is famous mobiles designated selling agent in Asia. Presently, kinds of updated items are on sale in our website: Link hidden: Login to view, they are all brand-new and they are in good condition, 100% original and impressive . We have been in this business for almost 10 years ,customers from all of the world . Rich experience is our treasure for further development while customer-orientation is our eternal tenet , Moreover ,we prefer Paypal payment ,it is safe and fast , please take it for sure that it is sensible for u choose us as your supplier ,we promise brand-new,the good qulity products and they are in good condition.we are so influential in this industry that we could promise you in advance the lowest price for same items ,
Thanks for you patience reading and browsing our site, Any question ,please feel free to contact me via this MSN : Link hidden: Login to view
Kind regards
Yours sincerely

I had a look at the website, and on the bottom it says
Copyright 2001-2006 Link hidden: Login to view All Rights reserved
which I thought might indicate how long they have been on line for...

I checked out the site on WHOIS.com and found that the site had only started on 13 April 2006.

The other light bulb going off is the fact that this ebay member has no feedback. Another thing was that they didn't even put there name to there email. I guess I could look it up via there profile... But not good business practice either.

I'm not even sure if this is sort of practice is against ebays rules? So I'm not quite sure what to do (if anything) about it.

Has anyone else had any experience with these people?

I'd be interested to know your thoughts.

ta

Okay, I'm seriously starting to think I should have put this in the scammers thread!

I just got another ebay question (on the same product) with basically the same sales pitch but the site was Link hidden: Login to view username: 75z7vpbjdhf (0).

Gees, I never expected to get spammed on ebay. But then again, I guess I'm new to all this ebaying.

I'll copy this email here as well - for the email addresses to avoid.

Hi, I get emails such as yours every now & then on my jeans, sneakers, etc. Next you will receive an email from Ebay saying that you have been in contact with someone trying to sell outside of Ebay which is against their rules! Ignore them!

Yikes, I guess that's always something to look forward to then LOL!

I received three all up and reported them. They just don't seem to realise that they're only hurting themselves and making it harder for them to get ANY business at all. TWITS!

That's spam --- just foward it to ebay -- Link hidden: Login to view ....

It's happening a lot now - just either delete it or forward it to Ebay ... sometimes when you respond to those sort of emails, and click into the 'respond' - it will ask you for your username and password, then, guess what?, you have just given away your user name and password.

Always go to the Ebay site, into 'my ebay' and check for questions there --- and well, be very careful when responding if it ask you for your username and password.

Spam is happening more and more, and some could be legit, just advertising their business, which can be very frustrating. I just always delete them.

This is against Ebay policy. You are not to use Ebay mail or contact Ebay members for anything that is not related to Ebay. I would report them. They will most definately be suspended for this.

I received 3 all up and reported all three. I looked up one of the ID's and they'd only been a member since 13 April I think it was.

I guess, I just didn't expect to get spammed on ebay. It was my first experience with spamming... on ebay LOL.

I'm over the shock of it now, and I know what's going on now.... (thank god).

I should have known ebay wouldn't be free from that sort of thing. DOH!

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Much appreciated.

Smiles
Jodie

I have recieved the same if not very similar spam just this week. The exact same 7 day auction has had alomost 30 of those spam messages as a question from buyer. Ive contacted them by email asking for references and they send the same exact lame message without answering any messages.I asked for thier paypal info for reference to qualified buyers and they stated they just started a new paypal account cause they lost money.

BIG SCAM STEER CLEAR dont send them anything you will get ripped off

oh dear.... I hope you hid your email address when you replied to them? Sometimes they use this method to get your email address so they can SPAM you some more.....

I've just been reporting them and deleting them via the messages link in 'My Ebay'. I don't think it is a good idea to respond to them.

take care, stay safe.... The nasty critters are frikkin annoying aren't they!!!! grrrrr.

But I guess it's all part of being online!

Cheers
Jodes

I think most are fake emails when replying back, mine are always returned...as email unknown.

I'd just send them to Ebay - or delete them.

The ones I get are coming from FAKE customers demanding I get in touch with them regarding an item they either did not get or some odd thing...either way it is stuff I never even had on my auction in the first place..the first 2 I sent to spoof@ the rest now I just delete....it's like an epidemic....somehow they get our emails...even when we are not running an auction....
I haven't had one for about 2 months now...looking to start an ebay store thru the whole sale here..:)
but even tho I haven't had one I still get these emails where they threaten to turn me in if I don't respond....too bad we cant devise an internet jail of some kind...and toss them in the klink for a while...ban them from internet or something..til they GROW UP! I got my pet names for them, but wont say it here..lol!

they make good stress reducer....make a target out of them and place on dart board...

Jan New to forum today...

those are all bullshit and scams. Go to google and type in 'whois'. Then type the web address in the sites' field. You'll get all the details about the site. Here's how you tell it's fake - go to the website and it usually said 'Copyright 2004-2006', Ok that sounds all good but go back to the whois info and your'll see the site in usually created in 2006. You can't copyright something 2 years before you made it!

Thats how you tell they're fake

It's a good idea to enable full email headers in any correspondence with suspected scammers. I use Yahoo mail and can temporarily enable headers to highlight ISP/IP address and region details.

This can often highlight the fact that you may be dealing with someone in another part of the world from that which they claim!

It's always worth sending a couple of questioning emails to determine this, before committing yourself.

Seems these scammers are spamming really well on ebay, I have lost count how many I have received in the last 10 days. Now I delete them before they get downloaded. I use a program called mailwasher pro, you can delete, bounce and report them all in one go. There is a free version of mailwasher you can use that can be downloaded from zdnet.com or cnet.com it's worth having it stops a lot of the spam and can prevent you accidentally downloading a virus into your mail box.

cheers :D

I received the same message on ebay but off 4 different users. I had a look at the site, there was some nice stuff there but no prices. I emialed and finally got a price list through but no way to pay. In the original email it stated that they accepted paypal, when I asked about this I was informed that the paypal acount had been suspended :? . No explanation why so I asked what way I could pay. Western Union was the answer, I gave it some thought and went back to the website and cant get it to come through. Has anybody else had this problem?
