Hi all I received this email from DHgate.
Can we trust them with payments any more?

As of 6 Aug 2012, DHgate.com will stop accepting PayPal payments. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you.
There are many payment methods on DHgate and all are 100% secure. Whatever payment methods you choose, your entire transaction is completely secured and covered by the newly upgraded DHgate Buyer Protection Plus. When you make a payment, DHgate holds the money and will never release the payment to the seller until you confirm you have received your order and you are completely satisfied.
DHgate is also committed to adding other secure payment solution vendors from local markets to make payments more convenient for you.

Hi AMAZONADELAIDE,

Thanks for sharing this with us. Yes, it does seem to be that way unfortunately. But I think other safe payment methods are still available on the site for customers to use.

We may have to wait and see their official announcement other than the emails being sent out to their members.

Here's a Link hidden: Login to view from another site that also discusses this.

All the best!

Hi AMAZONADELAIDE,

Thank you for the update. Please also take note of the warning that we posted in DHGate's supplier profile page -

Some sellers use this marketplace to sell counterfeit goods. We do not recommend purchasing ANY branded goods off this site as there is a 99% chance they will be fake. DHGate is excellent for no-brand items but always check a sellers feedback before purchasing.

I have also checked their site and there are several secure payment methods to use, credit cards are among these options Link hidden: Login to view

Well this is going to be a pain in the butt have used DHGate as a source for many products over the years and as the majority of my customers pay for their items via Paypal i pay for items from DHGate sellers via Paypal. This method has proved to be successful for me as DHGate only release payment to the seller once you confirm the transaction was successful. Now what ? Buyers pay via Paypal and i pay via credit card and then have to transfer payments from Paypal to my credit card which can take up to 5 working days.
Do not understand why the change in payment methods.

Hi pcostie,

This is certainly not a very welcomed announcement for most sellers sourcing products on DH Gate and paying via PayPal. I have not seen any official posts or announcements from DH Gate but here's an interesting blog, somewhat explaining (in a way) what is about to take place starting next week -

Cheers!

That's a very interesting article.
