I think I'm being scammed!

I was so frustrated when I found out ebay charge 10% for every item that you list thru them. Here is the good one there are three buyers bought the products ask for invoice, asking your paypay email address without actually purchasing the product. ebay charge me for $129.50 each without receiving money from the buyers! I think ebay is not for me. I really don't know how they make money on ebay.

Yes.. three of them.. they want invoice and my paypal email address saying they don't want to pay to the wrong account. I did invoice two of them but still not paying it.. now ebay charged me already.. for those three products.. frustrating I need help

Ok I was trying to drop ship the product and the price for the member is $1198.00 .. I list it on ebay for $ 1295.00. This is only my first trial how it works the drop ship then as soon as I list on ebay I got one buyer bought it and asking for invoice plus my email address: here is the copy and tell me if this is not scam to you:

OK, now I understand.

What they have done is hit the BUY IT NOW option. As soon as that trigers in the eBay system, that records as a sale. So as far as eBay are concerned, that is a closed transaction and is why they are charging you. That's OK, if you don't get payment, you can file a non payment dispute and eBay will refund you the sales commission back.

With the buyers, can you send me their eBay id's so I can take a look at their accounts please.

Yeah, file an unpaid item dispute with eBay straight away. You will find directions on how to do that in your "My Ebay" section. Cut of any further communication with the buyers.

When you are listing on eBay, select some criteria to try and cut these out. Select which countries you will not ship to, mark Nigeria in that section. You should also consider requiring a buyer to make payment through PayPal immediately a transaction is done, so they will be forced to pay straight away or they will not be able to buy the item to start with.

You may also consider requiring that a buyer has a feedback score of more than 5 to purchase the item. Measures such as these will lower the chances of this happening again.

Nigeria throws up alarm bells straight away, geez, rediff.com is from india, me thinking the utah address may be a mail forwarding house, madison, well, dunno but her grasp of english is not that great.

Don't follow, what's the problem with them?

As a seller on ebay, there are many people out there who are seeking to scam.

One common way is to pay you for an item using an ebay account and a few days after you recieve a notice from ebay saying the user has notified them of anauthorised access

A second way is to provide you with a paypal address which you then email an invoice to and indeed the invoice is paid.

Again as with the first , a week or so later, you will get a chargeback and paypal will notify you that the useraccount was accessed fraudulently

When selling on ebay, they will charge a % of your sale price + a listing fee.

You must take precautions such as

1 restrict countries where your products can be bought
2. any odd requests outside of buy and pay using ebay, do not respond, simply chat to ebay to cancel the order riht away

I know this post is old but just to add to this, a popular Paypal scam targeted at sellers:

They ask you for your paypal address wanting to send the money to your address directly, blah blah. Exactly as you described above. Then a fake email is sent from fake "Paypal" to your paypal address telling you that payment has been made. These emails usually include a link that will take you to a fake profile page asking you to provide your email address and password.

Another option they have at scamming you with this method is by receiving the item, then selling it (having NOT paid you as you thought).

You can avoid these by being very vigilant. Never do sales for Ebay outside of Ebay, just so you have that security net. Also, when logging into Paypal or any other secure websites, a lock and a green bar should appear in your address bar (Google Chrome, not sure what the standard is for other browsers) letting you know that this website is secure. Never sign into a "Paypal" account without the trust bar.
