Is DHgate to be trusted?

I seem to always find what I want on DHgate but I also dont want to get scammed, what are things to look out for when buying from dhgate? Also, should I only purchase from a supplier if they accept paypal? Thanks.

As Marc has mentioned in the said thread, DH Gate is a business to business directory, just like Alibaba and Trade Tang, and they feature suppliers who list there. DHGate are not the supplier themselves.

And when doing business on any B2B site, you need to research the supplier you plan to do business with, especially with a Chinese supplier. Our advice is that you take extra caution, do preliminary research / investigation on a specific supplier you plan to use from DHGate.

Once you decide to purchase from a supplier from one of these B2B directory sites, it would be best to use safe payment methods, and the safest of them all is credit card.

DHGate is in our directory because even though you may find a mix of good and bad suppliers in their site, several of our members have used good sellers from DH Gate (as shared by Richelle in the thread). A few of them have posted their feedback on the forum:

And remember that China based suppliers are not reliable sources for brand name goods (but best for generic products, to create good profit margin).

I have been using alibaba ali express quite often but decided to try dhgate recently. I found about of what I ordered ended up having the order cancelled as not ship in time. This is from suppliers with good feedback. when this happens all details to the order disappear so its a mission to work out exactly what has been cancelled as all information disappears and the original confirm purchase only gives a number not a product. I do a lot of drop shipping and it has really made me think twice about using DH gate for this system. The other thing that shocked me was that when I figured out what was cancelled I went to the suppliers site to see the product still listed. So I tried the purchase again and sure enough it took my money confirmed the sale then a few days later advised not supplied cancelled order and refunded. I email them to ask if this was normal but never received a reply. This has made me very cautious to use DH gate again

That's the thing about DH Gate, their network of suppliers are unverified and the reviews even if good may not always hold water especially since there is no way to verify the validity of each review.

But some of our members have been luckier than most and have actually fostered good supplier relations with some of the suppliers in DH Gate.

Sometimes luck will just have a play with being able to find a reliable supplier so good luck to all of us!
