Hi,

Last year I opened the first online store in my country : Link hidden: Login to view
I'm importing goods from the USA and sell them online.
In the beginning it was difficult because this all was new to the people.
But now the sale is going good.
What do you all think about my website?
All positive and negative feedback are welcome !

Regards

hi globalwb
had a look not bad you have a lot of space left around your opening page, plus some of your goods are in a different languge. I tried clicking on the english symbol but it did'nt change so i could not read it. Also there are a lot of goods there that you click on and they come up in another languge, might want to fix that up so other people can read what you have. Otherwise not bad, keep up the good work.
cheers

The site is aweful...to much white space, not in English when you're in an English speaking country.

I for one wouldn't look twice if I came across this site.

It's brutal but honest.

The national language here is Dutch. That's why everything is in dutch.
As I copy the description of most of the items some are in English.
Because I buy all the items from the USA.
But most of the educated people here write and read English. It would take much time to translate it to Dutch.

I tried to bring the space back but it didn't work as I don't have much experience in web designing.
And keep in mind that I live in a third world country of 400,000 people.
So I didn't invest much in a website as I just started. I just bought a template.
It is not necessary to set up a professionally website like Walmart or Circuit city in such a country.
You just have to adjust to you own market.
You will also notice that there is no online payment method. The payment method is Cash On Delivery. Only about 500 out of the potential 50,000 clients can pay online

But thanks for the feedback.

Regards

Looks good overall I think. I agree with the other guy though, there's too much white space. It's a bit harsh on the eyes. The front page is a bit too spread out, there's white around the edges and also between all the different elements, text, banners etc. The other pages are ok, since they're more compact and centred. But it looks like it would get the job done. If I was a customer and I thought your prices were good, I'd use it :D

BTW How long did it take for business to pick up after you started it? And where did you buy the template from? I've seen some really nice ones but they're all about $150-ish.

Thanks,

It took about 2 months to take off. I bought the template from template monster for about $150.
Where did you saw the nice ones?
I'm planning to improve the website continuously.

Hiya, well it's all a matter of taste but I like some of the ecommerce templates on Link hidden: Login to view and you can see a live working version of each template which is handy. But I noticed most of these template websites have exactly the same templates for sale anyway, so meh....

Hi globalwb,

I don't think it's all that bad, with some ongoing work to fill the gaps you should look ok.

One thing missing that i am sure will help is: A few 'trust' symbols/logos placed around the site in particular the top of the site menu, also in the footer. If you use PayPal, then there are sites like Link hidden: Login to view that are minimal cost per year to sign up to.

Cheers,

Ken Mathie

Thanks,
I had the paypal, mastercard, visacard etc logos but I removed them because I don't have online payment methods. The only way the pay is by Cash On Delivery.

The store doesn't look bad, a few things does throw it off. First, you don't want to mix the languages together. If you're going to type it in Spanish and English(I'm assuming it's spanish), then you may want to type it in spanish first, and then directly under it, type it in English. Also you have advertised the Geweldige camera for $185, but you also show it as having a list price of $185, so if customers see that, they will realize that they aren't really saving. Last but not least, you want to at least open a paypal account, so customers will be able to pay you as soon as possible. Waiting on C.O.D. can be time consuming. You can also set up a merchant account that will accept credit cards, or have them go through google to checkout. I have found this is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to pay. These are the little things that can make or break an online store. You have to look out for these little mistakes. Overall, it looks nice. I want to ask, since it has been up and running, how has sales been?

The language is Dutch. Some of the description are in English because I buy the items from the USA. If you will read my earlier posts you will see why I don't have set up a merchant account. A very few people here have a paypal account.
