not sure these are really wholesale prices as they are the same price on eBay and wouldn't sell for much more anywhere else because they are refurbs...

If they are the same prices as ebay then that is a pretty good indication that they are genuine wholesale prices. Most prices on ebay are wholesale, or below in a lot of cases, that's why looking for a wholesaler to compete with sellers on ebay is a waste of time.

Anyone who is going to make a go of selling new items on ebay needs to be sourcing below wholesale to give themselves a chance.

thats what I meant, I don't think its a waste of time, I have several suppliers now that I use and compete with on eBay, it took two years of solid work but its worth it in the end...I understand that this forum has pretty much become anti-eBay and to an extent I agree, amazon and places are much better!

It looks like persistance paid off for you after that two year search, and I'm guessing you have found one of those dark corners where a niche market exists.

Don't misunderstand, I'm actually one of those that is still happy with ebay. Of course there is always something that I don't like, or I think could be improved, but all in all I believe if you aren't using ebay as part of your frontline marketing startegy for sales, then your falling short on market exposure.

The point I was trying to make was wholesale prices in general won't cut it for online sellers, I was just using ebay as an example. In most cases online market places already operate at wholesale value, and below. This causes new comers nothing but frustration because they have already digested the garbage that others have told them about how easy it is to make money on ebay.

They come along and believe that it's a matter of finding a wholesale supplier and away they go. Most don't understand that there are other avenues to source products through, other than wholesale, and they are where I suggest people look.

Two years is a long slog, and congrats for hanging in and I hope you are now going to reap some rewards for that persistance, but most can't hang in that long, and the fact is that most of them don't have to to get started, they just have to cough up all the garbage they have been told previously and open their minds up to different ideas.

Yeah I know what you mean fudjj, what do you do exactly? I see loads of great input from you but never understand if you sell on eBay or not!

I say two years but it wasn't every hour of every day, i was relaxed about it and yeah it took time but good things come to those who wait. I think its a shame that so many members have a negative element about them and an uncanny naivety thinking salehoo will make you rich. Well salehoo may be the reason why I become rich because it taught me everything I know but the suppliers had nothing to do with it. When I joined salehoo eBay was the only way to go, if I joined now I probably wouldn't of bothered with eBay at all!

Thanks Bevsey,

I come from a marketing background actually, something a little different, but also hold a degree in small business management. I try to draw on that experience when opting to give advice which I think sometimes offers a different perspective.

I do a little selling on ebay, was actually a power seller up til last month due to slowing sales. Other interests are taking more of my time at the moment, so ebay can take a back seat for a while.

You may have seen my Auction-Source post here on the forum, that is something I I am working hard on getting moving. I also have an online shopping mall in development, something a little different, the shops will be for lease so other can sell, instead of the usual of the owner stocking with their own product.

On top of that I have my own offline business call Fresh Direct. That is a home delivery service covering Brisbane selling ready to cook prepared vegetables and salads, plus over 3000 Gourmet lines.

So there you go, everything you were curious about, and then some...lol

As you can see, time is not something I have a great deal of spare at the moment, but my business interests see me spend a lot of time in front of the PC and I find myself using the Forum here to take a break from the usual...lol

Ok, somehow I have managed to make this thread all about me...lol, sorry about that. Now that I think about it, it might be cool if the site was developed a little more to feature members profiles, something like a myspace page, so we could all learn a little more about each other.

It would be good to put a face to the advice, and know what background that advice was coming from. It would also bring members a little closer together I think, might even inspire some further joint projects between the group.

Of course those that know me, and some who I have been partners in joint ventures with on here know that I am all about networking. The power you gain from being part of a 20, 30 50 strong group opens doors that you on your own have no chance of opening.

It always frustrates me that this site has something like 50,000 members, and somehow we never manage to all get on the same page. For crying out loud, with a fraction of that amount we could form one of the most powerful buying groups on the planet.

Seriously, when I think of the potential this place has to explode, it drives me crazy to see it constantly fractured, each person to interested in making a fortune on their own, and then getting frustrated when they realize that they can't even compete on ebay.

See, there is that marketing background talking....lol, anyway, Just a thought
: )

When it comes to some new members being naive, couldn't agree more, but I guess that is human nature these days. People aren't that interested in learning, they are looking for a magic key that will unlock the fortune.

Of course it's what leads to frustration with some when they join Salehoo only to find that the key isn't here. What seems to happen is the ignorant pretty much whinge and move on in further search, while the smart ones stick around and listen.

What they hear may not be what they want to hear, but the fact that they stay and listen gives them a better chance of not just making some money, but also saving money on drop kick scams, where as the ignorant ones that know all move on and more than likely drop their cash to the first person that promises them what they want to hear.

Ever since I joined I found more value in the forum than in the suppliers. Lets face it, there is no supplier here that can't be found through ordinary research, but some of the information that members share is priceless!
