Safe Payment Options With Suppliers

Hello,

One of the suppliers I am thinking to do business with dont allow me to use Visa card or PayPal.
They only accept payments through Western Union or bank to bank transfers - is that good or bad? Their reason is that they are afraid of bank fraud.
Is that a bad thing? Is it safe for me to use Western Union or bank to bank transfer?

Hi Irene,

For a new supplier that you have never traded with, we would never recommend using either of these two payment options. While your supplier will be protected, you WILL NOT and you will be left with recourse whatsoever if their is any issue!

Is this a supplier within our dircetory and if so, can you forward me a link to their profile page please so I can follow up with this please.

Is there anything you can do about that?
They told me since I am outside of US they cant vertyfi my bank account they only use visa or paypal for US bank accounts

Hi Irene,

OK, I've had the payment issue clarified for you. the PayPal issue, this is the one that I was most concerned about as anyone with a PayPal account can accept payments from anyone else with an account, no matter what country. However, this supplier does not accept PayPal payments at all, not even from US customers.

Regarding the credit card, they will only accept credit card payments with cards issued by US banks. So they will accept CC payments, but not with cards issued outside of the US.

So that does limit your payment options with this supplier. While we never recommend wire tranfers through Western Union or similar, now direct bank deposits for safety reasons, I can tell you that this supplier has been listed with us for the past 9 years and we have no complaints lodged against them for breaching payment expectations.

Now the bigger issue here may not be the safety of the payment options, it may be the cost to you. If you are going to do business, I would recommend bank transfer over money wire, but both are going to have transaction costs related to them. So those costs may well inhibit your profit making potential.
