After recieving some goods from DHgate.com that I was not happy with, I asked for a refund. After a lengthy process, they eventually offered my 55% refund, which was the maximum that they said they could offer.

I thought I would tell you guys, as lots of people trade with DHgate, and I didn't think this was a particularly successful story.

Throughout the negotiations, I had lots of 'if you do not reply within two days, we will assume you have settled the dispute.'
This does not give you a huge amount of time, especially if your internet is down for a couple of days.

I just got confirmation that they would refund today, so will let you know when they actually deposit the money.

I was a little angry to know that I was never going to get all the money back, but I suppose some is better than none.

Cheers,
Tom

55% Refund? That is very poor. But then again 45% of the payment you send them is usually the shipping charges they rip you off with.

I deal with Dhgate a lot, and I have a personal contact with them. His name is Richard, and he seems to either be the owner or someone pretty high up there. I have been doing business with him for months now, which is why to my unfortunate dismay I have been neglecting Salehoo, breaking my own rule of never stopping the research! However I am back on track and ready to go at it again. His email is Link hidden: Login to view. He seems very eager to please and he is very easy to get along with. Hope this helps! Oh dont tell him you got his email from me, I dont want to make him irritated :).

Guys,

Thanks for the response. I used Paypal, which is pretty standard for purchases on Dhgate.

Although this does seem like a pretty poor refund offer, as I got to keep the goods, and will sell them anyway (albeit for a lesser value) I am not that put off. I think I will continue to trade with DHgate, as they do seem to have the bargains.

Thanks Centercorp for the email, I will keep it in mind for future, and don't worry I won't tell him who gave it to me ;)

Cheers,
Tom
