Hi guys,

I'm currently using AliExpress for my children's wear, however am finding that demand is increasing and I would like to source suppliers locally for my business so that shipping and turnaround time speeds up for me. I did a "dummy" search before joining Salehoo, and the search revealed over 200 suppliers in Australia that can help me with my search term "Boutique Children's Clothing". I can only see 1 that is located in Australia now that I've joined. Could someone please help me with where I am perhaps going wrong? My business is called Luxe Little Ones and I cater for children from birth through to 7 years of age.

Another reason I would like local suppliers, is also a difference in the seasons, ie: In Australia, it's currently approaching Summer, whereas USA & China are in the cooler months, so their lines of clothing reflect this.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Sales,

Just a thought, but have you considered using surplus suppliers in the US to buy in bulk through?

I have, and that's something I am exploring as well, but I would really like some local suppliers in Australia.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be many suppliers in Australia at all.

That search box on the sales page that you used for the initial search is the global suppliers, it is not specific to the country the person is searching from. So the results you got were total suppliers, not Australian based suppliers.

I know it's a cheeky idea, but I would suggest talking to some retailers in the genre about doing a bulk deal on the stock that isn't moving that well perhaps. Bricks and mortar stores need to treat their shelf space very carefully, so only the latest and fastest moving stock usually gets on them. They may very well have slower moving or last years designs or whatever, sitting out the back. Perfectly good stock that will still sell, jut not well enough to be taking up valuable shelf space in their store.

I'm sure there would be retailers happy to liquidate some stock to up their cashflow somewhere, trouble is finding them lol.

I know that there are some great companies in Australia, I just need to find them. I like your idea, that's not something I had thought of.

Yes, it's an interesting one I think. You could well turn into the go to person to liquidate stock through from various avenues, at the same time develop a supply source free of other competition. Now that's something you can't do from sourcing online : )
