I'm looking to buy treadmills to sell in the UK.

On a previous post Jimmy said you can only get them at liquidation.com or surplus.net. But any treadmills on these sites can only be shipped to a US address.

Can anyone help me?

Did you ever consider the fact they are probably buying them from just a US source in large bulk and having them shipped by cargo container to GB. You do know that the GB to US conversion is in your favor by basically 2 to 1.

And you also just contradicted yourself. Your trying to quote ebays prices to our wholesale suppliers. Ebay sells most items below wholesale. Not to mention you also need to look at the market that your trying to sell in.

Ive also done some research on several treadmills from retail locations in the us based on the brands I see selling in the UK.

Duratek fitness which happens to be a buisness seller ,sells thier own units on ebay.co.uk and they are the biggest treadmill seller on ebay.co.uk. They sell thier own product. And they sell the high majority of units sold in the UK.

There is another seller nextdayuk that sells unbranded treadmills. You cant even find specs on these machines on the internet so its a definate possibility that this company manufacturers thier own units.

All the other units I see that have sold are personal items or items being cleared out for way below thier original value.

Many of them are also brands that I cannot even find using a simple google search.

So you expect us to find you a source based on limited information on a field that you yourself have limited information on? When you research a product you need to research the sellers as well. Whos selling the most items. What thier name and thier affiliation to the product they are selling. If you cannot locate that brand on google then its possibly a house brand meaning the seller that is selling them is also the manufacturer.

Heres some advice. DO MORE RESEARCH... You have a very big advantage and you dont even know it. You have the ability to buy items from the USA for basically half of what we have to pay for it due to conversion rates and you can sell them on Link hidden: Login to view for more then we sell them in the USA. You have alot more potential then you think. But you need to do more research in the area you want to jump into. I would personally stay away from heavy items though if you plan to purchase from the USA unless you plan to ship by cargo container loads.

That's a fair response. Although ebay seller 'nextdayuk' is selling branded treadmills by a company called NewFitness.
I have done a lot of research for the last few months, i haven't just jumped in to this and declared that i'm giving up.

If I can't source treadmills, Ideally i'd like to sell higher priced items on ebay that have higher margins and that are not too difficult to ship, i'm staying away from electrical products for many reasons.

I am already a Powerseller with 100% over 2000+ feedback so i do have a small advantage already & as you said with the pound being so strong -i'm in a great position.

If you were in my position what would you sell?
Maybe we could do a JV or you can IM me and send me a suggestion based?

Dave

Why are you asking people what to sell? You are an advanced eBayer.

Go to your library in UK and ask for trade mags from the US.

Or go to a store that sells them, get the number of the product and call.

You know this question makes little sense to me. What difference does it make how experienced you are. Sourcing products is a full time job even for big companies that make billions each year. It does not matter how small or big you are you still need to have profitable products to sell. I commend anyone trying to source more as they are doing what they can to be more successfull in this business.

Hey just a quick question, have you tried to contact newfitness and see if you could make a deal with them to aquire thier products cheap enough to resell. If they are looking for good sources to move thier products im sure they might be able to work something out for you if you can sell alot for them.

I personally wont work with heavy items due to shipping prices. Half the time people will balance the bid on the shipping amount and its just not very profitable for a US seller. But you being in the UK selling to only the UK it might not be so bad for shipping charges.

Newfitness were my first port of call, they unfortunately couldn't help me as their wholesale or even below wholesale priceing is still way too high for ebay.

It's irrlelevant being an advanced ebayer, just becuase in the past i had found a good product to sell, doesn't mean i can find a decent product now to sell.

Jimmy - Even in the UK heavy shipping charges for items are not worthwhile unless you can source an amazing item with great profit margins.

Preferably i'm looking to buy from the US not the UK due to the strong

Well my best products are in liquidations. We buy mixed items by truckload so there is not generally one specific product that we specialize in. Its just profitable for us because although some of the items are damaged the majority of the items can be profitable overall due to so much of it being new.

I can only say that literally anything you can buy cheap from the US due to the conversion rates would be profitable as long as you can find cheap shipping to the UK.

If you can afford container loads it could be a good idea to buy liquidated merchandise by container load.

The problem i have with liquidated stock is that it is always different. For a lomg-term business i would like create a niche for myself (such as watches, ties or anything) and then build on that niche & create long term sales through back end techniques etc...

Is there any one market area that you can advise me to move into where you know of a reputable supplier?

Your right Jimmy. I went overboard. This is a site for sourcing product. I plead temporary insanity.
My apologies to rocastle.

Apologies accepted :)

Jimmy apart from container loads of mixed items, your vast experience must point to an area you think would do well here in the UK??

Well For the Uk Market I cannot be very much help as I dont know this market very well. I dont know what is popular. Or what is hard to find in retail shops. I personally would stick with Home products like Bed Comforters, Pillows, And Home Decor.

But you would know better by just researching what products you can aquire cheap will sell for on ebay uk.

I have done my research - but finding a reputable supplier on here that can sell products such as home products at below ebay prices doesn't seem to exist?

Can you advise to which suppliers i can contact?
