Hi SaleHooers!

As you can see we have had some major changes to the website over the past week. I want to give you a bit of a background into why we made these changes and what we've got up our sleeves in the near future.

The main idea behind this pretty dramatic overhaul was to completely re-build the site to make it easier for us to maintain and grow.

But while we were in there knocking down walls and fixing the plumbing (metaphorically speaking!) we also figured that we'd throw in some new furniture, a big flat-screen TV and a hot tub for our members.

You can find a detailed list of what has been added to the new site here: Link hidden: Login to view (you're welcome to share this with your friends!)

As a member you're unlikely to see all the good stuff that's gone on in the backend, you're going to start seeing improvements to the site that are a direct result of this, such as:

1) New suppliers added, verified, and details updated much faster
2) Site content is now easier for us to keep up-to-date, easier for you to find, and easier to read. Check out the blog: Link hidden: Login to view
3) Our previously impressive customer support is now even better, now that our good-looking support crew have a better system to work on.

Just because we're looking pretty swish, doesn't mean we get to take a nap. Over the next few weeks and months we're going to be implementing some more pretty cool features, such as:

1) Adding a "sort by" tool to the search results so you can order supplier results by rating, trust or location.
2) "My notes" will be added to the favorites area so you can add notes to your favorite suppliers for future reference.
3) We'll be adding some more functionality to the search tool so you can refine your searches even further.
4) We'll be releasing a beta version of our new platform for creating an online store (name still under wraps for now!) We'll be giving free access to selected members, so you can test it out.
5) You'll notice we've added email and website verification to supplier listings. We're also working on getting telephone numbers verified, and cross-referencing these with the physical addresses given by suppliers.
6) We're in the process of hiring new staff members to focus solely on monitoring directory quality and finding new suppliers.

We don't think you get very far in this industry (or any industry!) by resting on your laurels, so expect to see ongoing changes and improvements to the SaleHoo site. We'll keep you informed as much as possible (it's much easier with the new content management system!) and we'll try not to break things too often :)

I'd love to hear your feedback about any of the recent, or upcoming developments on the site, and any other suggestions you have. Feel free to post your comments below, or use the link at the top right corner of the page ("Give feedback"). These come directly to me :)

I find the PM system is a bit buggered.
In so far if I go to a users profile, then click to send them a PM. It popupates the fields with my name and sends a PM to myself if I don't realize.

Hi vichardy,

If you noticed the 'To' and 'From' portion (of the PM interface) cannot be filled in manually. When you click on 'Send user message', these are automatically filled in by the system. So in short you do not and are not sending the message to yourself rather you retain a copy of your message in your inbox.

I have somehow tried to explain the new PM system to another member, please check this post:

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

You can adjust the "to" field if you adjust the URL.

So

Link hidden: Login to view

becomes

Link hidden: Login to view
Link hidden: Login to view

:)
I think the profile page is just pulling the wrong variable.

Okay I guess I thought that maybe the site was attacked and the name was changed , so I now see that I was over reacting , where is the old owner of the site ?

also where can I buy his sample bulk items to try out , are they still available ?

The site ownership hasn't changed, only the site itself has been updated. As for buying bulk sample items, I'm assuming you may well be talking about Jimmy and PPWDG.

Jimmy is no longer a part of SaleHoo, and PPWDG ceased trading some time ago.

Looks like you've been gone for a while : )

Welcome to SaleHoo Tonete :)

Your not doing anything wrong at all. But to be honest, it is very difficult to find suppliers for jordan shoes and other branded sports related products especially Nike.

Nike has a very firm stand against piracy and counterfeits - they have therefore ensured for their products to be exclusively distributed through their own stores or through their authorized dealers only.

Here's a post you may find interesting and helpful:

By the way are any other brands you may be interested in?

Looking forward to your reply!

P.S. Hopefully you can add a photo to your profile so we can have more friendly faces on the forum. =D

Hi Tonete, and welcome from myself also.

Richelle has covered that really well, in fact it is not just brand name shoes that are getting harder to source, but a range of branded products from right across the board.

Piracy is the major cause of it, brand owners needing to regulate their distribution channels to ensure quality, authenticity of product, and of course to protect their brand.

Liquidation suppliers are an option, but you will usually find that the stock is anywhere from 6months old, to 5 years, possible older in a lot of cases.

Welcome to SaleHoo, COUTO :)

What products are you interested in? We can help you search for suitable suppliers.

Personally, I'd say the forum and the support you receive from us staff and our active members will be well worth your $67. I say this not because I work for SaleHoo but because I visit other forums regularly and NOTHING beats SaleHoo's forum and customer support - we have one of the most active forums there is on the web!

If you take the time and browse through our forum, you'll discover a wealth of information, tips, advice and suggestions from experienced members :)

Besides you do have 60 days to try out SaleHoo, who knows you might decide to keep your membership after a couple of weeks of exploring our site!

Please let us know if we can help you with anything. Feel free to email us at support@salehoo.com

Cheers!

@COUTO,

I've worked personally with literally hundreds of eBay sellers, many of them very new to eBay and ecommerce like you are. And I've noticed that most of the newer sellers have the tendency to make snap judgments about websites, resources, tools, etc. much too quickly, in their eagerness to get started with their online businesses.

Whenever I recommend a particular supplier or dropshipper to one of them, in almost every case I get an email reply back from them within only 1 or 2 days, saying that they couldn't find any decent products on that supplier's website.

I ask them how many products they actually researched (and I mean how many they thoroughly, comprehensively researched), and how many hours they spent researching potential products on the supplier's site, and 99.9% of them admit that they only researched 5 or 10 products and/or only spent a few hours researching products before jumping to the conclusion that this particular supplier didn't have any viable products to resell on eBay.

Be very careful that you don't get sucked into this mode of thinking. If it were that easy, there would already be so many people doing it that there wouldn't be room for any new sellers to break into selling on eBay.

In order for you to be able to make an accurate judgment as to whether or not a particular supplier or dropshipper (or list of dropshippers, as the case may be) has any viable products, you need to research a MINIMUM of 50-100 products, and spend a minimum of 6-8 hours doing so.

And you need to be doing adequate and accurate research using accurate, reliable research methods. So my next questions for you are: What are you using to research potential products? What research tools are you utilizing? How many different research tools are you using to compare results?

If you're like many new eBay sellers, and you're only looking at eBay listings to try and determine whether or not a particular product will be viable for you to sell, I'm here to tell you that's not enough, especially if you're only looking at active listings, which tell you almost nothing about whether or not a particular product is viable.

At the very least, you should be researching products by using the Completed Listings on eBay, but even then, you'll only be scratching the surface by doing that, and you won't be able to find enough relevant data from just looking at Completed Listings anyway.

It is absolutely essential that you use a high-quality, reputable eBay market research tool when you're trying to find viable products to sell, and even more than one tool, if possible. I personally use 3-4 different market research tools and compare the results between them, and I usually spend at minimum of 2 hours researching just ONE product.

There are many excellent eBay market research tools out there, including the Salehoo Research Labs tool and Terapeak (www.terapeak.com), eBay's preferred research tool.

Anyway, the main point I want to make is that it is literally impossible not to find dozens of viable products to sell among the suppliers listed on Salehoo, as long as you're doing sufficient, accurate market research.

I hope that helps!

Thanks for your idea Gustav, you can submit that directly to the development team via the red "feedback" tab on the RHS of the screen and they will take a closer look at implementing.

Cheers
