I have been doing a little bit of Adwords and yahoo advertising and such for my website, but i wondered if there was a better way to advertise that anyone knew about, or if anyone else had some ideas other then just posting on forums or blogs or things of that nature.

Adwords seems to be effective, but I would doubt if forums are going to be any good unless specifically targeted to your products.

Wholesale type forums are simply full of other people trying to do what you are, but if you sell records for example, then music forums would be a great spot to make some contacts.

Definitely free sites such as bonanzle, you don't need to have all your listings there, but you can use that to drive traffic with just a few listings and some information about your site.

Quite a few free options around, always worth having a presence if it is costing you nothing.

Fire a link to your site

I have profited well from the website from what I have sold and have made a few hundred dollars each month since it I opened it up in January, and I have doubled my business each month but I am constantly looking how I can do more business and such. I have looked into Ebay and I just have a problem with wanting to pay monthly fees when I have done so well on a free commerce website, but maybe thats what I need to do to get more business and grow more. Im just looking for some direction from whoever wants to give it.

If you're already generating sales leads for your own shop, you're off to a pretty solid start.

The guys at 'big value depot' are launching their new site, and they are cashed up to make a big splash.

Austin is giving away a couple off hundred thousand free listing coupons, and it couldn't hurt getting one or two of your items listed there for nothing, because my best guess is that their traffic will be impressive with their marketing budget!

So you would stick to free sites that dont cost anything to post and such, but you just pay commission on the items that sell?

I think that's a very cost effective way of increasing your brands awareness, of course these sites individually to pack the consumer traffic that paid listing sites do, but if budget is an issue, then this free listing saturation is where I would first target.

The other thing about free listing sites is that you can usually get away with promoting your own site easier without breaking the rules, and your objective here it seems to increase traffic flow to your own site, your not really looking for a complete alternative to what you currently have.

It takes time, but time is something that every business has to pay, but cover your most cost effective options first if your budget is tight, then take a look at the results. From there you will see how effective the low cost saturation is and be able to adjust your marketing based on your results.

Other ways of advertising are using free online classifieds. Google adwords are probably the best but if you cant yet afford the prices I would suggest you check into any free ads you can. Its also a good way to get your name out there if you have a young site.
