Best research tools for eBay ?

Does anyone use Link hidden: Login to view or Link hidden: Login to view ?

Ive used Link hidden: Login to view before but just read that it's gone downhill nowadays, i already use Link hidden: Login to view which is great and i know ebay is bringing out there own analytic tool soon but i am always looking to add more to my arsenal :)

Also i have had the offer for Link hidden: Login to view and wondered if thats worth it or not?

and if there are any more worth talking about feel free to post or contact me.

:) Stirfry

Hi stirfry,

I'm not too familiar with some of the tools you mentioned.

But I can say that Terapeak as well as Hammertap are 2 of the most commonly used (not to mention recommended) research tools for eBay.

SaleHoo actually offers two tools you can use for eBay, one is the Auction Inspector and the other one comes free with your membership - our Research and Analysis lab.

- The Research and Analysis Lab is a powerful tool for finding niche market opportunities on eBay and on the internet and general. It has recently been given a complete overhaul, and now come packed to the gills with tools for finding new niches, comparing products, analyzing trends, and uncovering sales data from eBay.

Among other things, we have fancy graphs to show you whether demand and sales for your products are increasing or decreasing, so you don't buy a whole lot of stock that won't sell. We can also tell you the best time and day to end your listing, the best category to list it in, and the average start and sale prices for your products.

Visit the labs and take the tour here: Link hidden: Login to view

- While the Auction Inspector inspects posts on the eBay "want it now" section and tells you which products are wanted most often. Not only that, but it also analyzes responses from sellers, so you can immediately see the areas where sellers are already swarming, versus the areas where there are clear, open pickings for you.

Here's how it works:

* Choose the eBay site you want to find a niche on (USA, UK, Canada or Australia)
* Select which categories you wish to inspect for trends (eg. collectibles, consumer electronics) or use a keyword.
* Sit back and let the software do the rest!

And one more, we recently added this in our Education section, a guide written about free ways to do product research on eBay (watch out for part 2!)

Hope this helps :)

Hammertap wouldn't let me sign up with a UK phone number and post code so i emailed them to ask why and they said this:

"We do not have a international signup form because we want to make sure that everyone understands that we only have USA eBay data. If you like, you can signup using a valid US zip code. You can then change your information to reflect your actual address once the account is set up."

I list on ebay.co.uk and check the box to show up on ebay.com so would this tool help me? Do you think its worth it for me?

Cheers,

Stirfry

If eBay US is a large part of your marketing, then signing up should give you valid research data, even though you are UK based. It would come down to what my primary market was as to whether I signed up or not.

US, yes - UK, no!

Me personally, I wouldn't go past Terapeak : )
