Hi all,

I am currently having a big problem with EBAY. We are perfume sellers and we sell on EBAY. Currently we have a 100% feedback rating, an account in good financial standing and have had no violations or customer disputes of any kind. Last week we started to put some more perfumes on there to get some more sales b4 xmas and i got to no.18 and a message stopped me and it said i had a limit and was not allowed to list anymore for 30 days. That would mean i had a total of only 18 things on EBAY. I was a bit annoyed but thought ok, i'll just relist the ones i sell in a couple of days and i wont go over the 18. When those sold, i was still unable to relist anymore items.

I spoke to someone on EBAY Live chat and they referred me to the security dept and said it was as simple as having my limit lifted. Once i received an email from them, it was totally automated and it didnt even make sense. It made no reference to what 'we had actually done' to have our limit put on and said 'After reviewing your account history, we have decided to put a limit on your account'. My husband and i thought this was not good enough seeing as we have never had any problems, so we wrote an email again. GUESS what??? They sent the exact same email again with no explanation.

I made some phone calls to EBAY USA customer service (WE live in AUS) and the lady said it had nothing to do with our account but the brand names we were listing for the perfumes. She said we would have to wait until somone from the security team contacts us! Meanwhile, its been 1 week and no more sales for our business this Xmas because we are still waiting for someone to bother to sort this out!

Meanwhile, thousands of other perfume sellers are listing hundreds of items with brand names with no problem. My friend has 200+ items on there at present and she has never received such an email. If it has to do with the big brand names then why do i have x1 chanel allure perfume on an ebay page and on the same page, a seller from HONG KONG has 8 listings in a row for the exact same perfume?????

Something is really sust and i reckon EBAY are not doing the write thing.

Im not sure what to do. HELP PLEASE?

ps: and by the way, the 18 perfumes we had on there werent all chanel! We had 2 chanel and the rest were a mixture of everything. A bit harsh i reckon.

Hello Grace,

EBay does this to prevent knock-offs. AS you get more and more positive feedback with no complaints eBay opens the door more and more until you are able to list without restriction.
What was happening is bad sellers would start a new eBay account, sell a hundred bad viles of designer perfume take the money and run. They would circumvent
Paypals security by selling a few easy items to get good FB. Once their new seller restrictions were off they would list like mad the bad viles and take the money out of Paypal before anyone knew what happened.

The only thing you might be able to do, is start another eBAy account. Just make sure the seller restriction email you got from eBAy does not say you cant sell from any eBay account. If it says 'any' dont do it. Or if they specifically state you cant do it.

If they dont say that then open a new account and see if you can list.

Thanks planes. I appealed it twice and they still said no. I have to wait 90 days now until i have more feedback. Weve been on EBAY a year but have only started professionally in the last couple of months so our feedback is still only 47. I tried today to list some other designers that werent chanel or dior such as marc jacobs, juicy couture etc and it let me do that which is ok. It must just be the high elite ones like chanel. I was going to open up a store but i wont bother now, as if i cant list freely then i dont see the point in paying monthly fees. Our website will be finished in a couple of weeks anyway so i'll be able to concentrate on that without any rules for now!!

Thanks for your help,

Hi Grace,
If you like to list 5 of your perfumes on my Big Value site for free you may do so here: Link hidden: Login to view Click on 'List any 5 Items Now for Free!' But keep in mind this is a young company that doesen't have the exposure of Ebay.

Sure,

Maybe open another eBay account and get that one going. That way you can double your postings.

The idea of opening a second account on ebay is quite solid, in fact I would suggest everyone have at least two accounts, maybe even three. You don't have to be using them all, just keep them spare for a rainy day in the event that you do into difficulty with your trading account.

Having a couple spare ensures you can be up and trading again with the least amount of drama, and if you also like to buy from ebay, it gives you a buying account to keep your private, and business dealings completely separate.

Hello...I have to chime in on this one...My Husband and I have had the same problem...Locked out...my husband and I have over 100 positive feedback's...what gives? Anyway enough about us..In order to keep selling and making money...we have looked at a few venues...First we have an account with Link hidden: Login to view and Link hidden: Login to view both of these were rated #2 and #3 on the internet. I paid 49.99 for ebid and I no longer have listing fees...and on Online auctions..we paid...199.00 and with online auctions we have NO listing fees and we can link our auctions with our website. If you are interested in a founding father membership shoot me an email and I can give you the details. Oh, forgot to tell you that with online auctions...you can call a phone number and talk to a person...no more automated emails...you actually get a 800 number...and the customer service is excellent. You should look at both...Ebay is not the only game in town...also we have decided to have booths at our local flea markets...We are happy to report much sucess. We only list on Ebay when the listings are 50% off or have any other selling incitive. I wish you and your husband the best of luck in the future.

Hey Christina2009 just wanted to see how sales were going on those other avenues for you? I heard something about ebid opening up a customer service location in the US and they were revamping their website to make it even more user friendly Starting Jan 5th.

I just want to clarify if those brand name channel perfume, etc. Are they authetic, or could be fake. that is why ebay caught up. It also risky to sell brand new. Where is your proof, ebay would say.
