Although it's a good place to win some pretty good stuff for resale, be careful with some of the items that they are selling. I learned the hard way. I have won a few auctions and the one in particular that I experienced bad merchandise is the Panasonic Phone.

My first experience was when I won a group of phones, I paid for them and they were shipped but being my first purchase I was hit with a shipping charge double my winning price. For example, my winning bid was about USD400 for a pallet of mixed Panasonic cordless phones, the pictures looked great but the shipping was USD360, meaning that this purchase just cost me USD760. Well, being my first time, I accepted the charge, one lesson learned. Then I received the merchandise and it was on a pallet and shrink wrapped so bad that some of the merchandise was falling out when I received it. Some of the stuff were unboxed with missing cords and instructions that were really bad. I ended up dumping most of the merchandise, maybe sold a couple of items that looked decent, but not many.

Second purchase, I saw a group of phones (21), the pictures looked good and I thought I would try one more time. This time I got a shipping quote before I made my bidding, this was OK - 70 bucks for shipping. Received the merchandise & most of the phones were as pictured, but I was shorted 4 phones, received 16 instead of 21.

I called them and called them and called, with no action just talk.

From the 16 phones I received 10 were resalable, all the others were in boxes but worthless.

In conclusion, my advise for anyone new at this to be careful on what you're bidding on, make sure it's in the original package and get a shipping quote before you start bidding.

One more item I saw before I go, I saw a group (40) of jewelry boxes hand made in India, the winning bid was 300, but guess what the shipping USD360!

Just thought I would share this with you folks.

John (bacpro)

PS: I'm not saying this is a bad place, I'm just saying to be careful. Auction pictures are sometimes deceiving, sometimes the bidding goes way beyond what the merchandise is really worth.

Good information and yes you do have to talkto them before you buy. Knowing what you are buying is the key. I look for items close to me that will allow me to pick them up. Saves time and money.

Yes, the shipping can eat you alive if you don't get a quote first. I've never bought anything like phones. But I did purchase a ton of clothes and never had any issues with them. I had one problem where I was shorted about 150 units on one purchase but they located the missing product and shipped it to me with no additional charge.

I'm awaiting delivery of about 500 pieces of mixed DDR ram. Hopefully all goes well. They stated they were pulled from working units. So hopefully that means I can get at least 350 really good pieces of RAM out of the lot. I know that some will be damaged but RAM has such a high potential for profit I couldn't resist.

In the top left corner is a tab that stated 'get a shipping quote'. Never and I mean never bid without getting a shipping quote. Don't pay more then 180 for a pallet either.

Also make sure to check the item condition too. If it's salvage then liquidation.com wont do anything for you.

Some quick comments on liquidation.com. I've been using them off and on since they first launched. I use their govt liquidation site too.

1) watch the bidding, I won't come right out and accuse anyone of shill bidding, but I strongly believe it happens on a regular basis. Some of the 'junk' just shouldn't go as high as it does.

2) if/when you get shorted, items not as described, item not showing up at all... stay on them. Don't give up, keep calling and emailing. If you don't feel you're getting anywhere, start insisting on talking to supervisors. I've had two bad ones. One was some mpci wireless network cards that were claimed to be one thing but were not. I supplied photos and specs on what I received and photos on what I *should* have gotten and got full credit (and the seller modified his listings). The other one was some door hardware I got from Stanley that never showed up. Took almost 6 months but finally got a full refund. Stanley claimed they shipped (a few times) but never did and couldn't even come up with tracking proof.

3) Read the description and manifest (if it's there) carefully. They have a habit of listing things and playing with numbers. eg. 100 MP3 Players and Accessories. Then you look at the manifest or read the description real carefully and see that what you get is 10 MP3 players and 90 pairs of earbuds! Fortunately I haven't gotten bit by that one yet.

This hasn't discouraged me from dealing with them tho, you just need to be careful. And yes, I've gotten the shipping sticker shock too!

Vince.

I agree i bought 3 lots of clothing 2 was a great deal , the 3rd was from TARGET and i only paid about a dollar per pice but i will be lucky to get my money back as many of the clothes have stains even though they were described as overstock and most have no price tags so i have no way of knowing of the retail prices they gave were correct but live and learn .good luck.

Hi all!

My first post to salehoo. I bought a pallet of 'returns' from Target ffor the minimum $100. I knew about the shipping, somewhere around $250. Received about 95%junk!

I think you can get some good deals from liquidation.com, but I think I will stick to shelf pulls, refurbished and new. I will definately stay away from any Target auctions.

Yeah thats one great thing about buying clothes from liquidation. You normally get lots of 500 on average for between 5 and 6 hundred. The profit potential on about a 4th of the items pays for the whole lot and the rest is in your pocket.

While we are this subject. Anyone
know what it takes to become a seller
on Liquadation.com?

I tried to sell wholesale lots
on ebay but don't get a whole
lot of action.

Thank

bacpro ,,, Go to RIPOFF REPORT there was some guy complining about the fees being a minium of $200 or 15% which ever is greater but i found this hard to believe as many of the lots dont even sell for $200 .-he was also saying they have complete control your item as far as advertising dont know if it is true but just things to keep an eye out for - good luck .

Hello all,

Just want to vent about a 'lot' that I just bought at liquidation.com.
This is only the second dealing I've had with them so I'm new.

Beware of overstated retail values. Not sure if they have any checks and balances on their listings or not. [but should:1c5023ab]

I bought a lot of dewalt combo tool kits that were stated to have a 799.99 retail value.
Then clicked on a link under the price that said 'check retail pricing' ,so I did, it took me to a online retail site and it listed the package at the same price.
After bidding and winning the 'lot' I then checked the link again and it took me to a different site that listed a whole page of sites that had that package. Guess what?? Everyone of those sites had recently cut the prices on the package by almost half. I then check at Lowes for their pricing and found that they recently cut their price as well.

In short I feel that I was grossly mislead on the retail pricing . I don't know if I have any recourse on this or not????

Anyone have any thoughts?? [besides making sure that retail researching should be very in depth.:1c5023ab]

I have not paid for the 'lot' as of yet, we have two business to do so. I have contacted them regarding this issue. [but because of the week end they are closed:1c5023ab]. will do so again Monday morning . I'm sure that I am stuck with this one and will loose about 800.00 on the deal, and that is if I can sell them at the new retail pricing. At this point I'm not sure if I will do business with them again.

It is possible that also due to the fact that companies like dewalt release new models of their products each year that you basically got nailed by new year markdowns. And also because these companies also boosted their manufacturing to keep up with the holiday season and now that the demand is lower they drop the prices to clear out the stock.

I do know that every year or so portable tool manufacturers release new models of their current lineup with more power and voltage. As I am a bit of a tool freak and have to have anything related to power :D

jlook41, here's a tip - everything i see on liquidation.com - i go straight to eBay's completed listings and see what they have sold for. you will be surprised to see that often the tools on eBay have sold cheaper individually on eBay than to buy a whole lot on liquidation.com. I like liquidation.com and thanks to JIMMY for the recommendation - but i do have to question the prices some of the things sell for and the way they list them. Also i think all dealers should be required to post a MANIFEST if there is not a MANIFEST i figure the product is not that good because if you have BULK LOT of a good product you want everybody to know how good it is not YOU MAY RECEIVE THE ITEMS IN THE PHOTO OR YOU MAY NOT. good luck!!!

Hi all.
I think everyone needs to be very careful when buying from any auction. It's risky business if you ask me, yes, it can pay off but also it can break ya pocket. Auction sites do their homework! I know I used to work at them type of places. I can let you know all the tricks of the trade but really, just use ya nogging people! And see what you're bidding on if you can...and yes there is some iffy stuff going on...

Be warned! Be careful!

Hi

I think we should list the sellers of Liquadation.com
that we have had problems with. There are only a few major players....for example I recently won
a lot of Pansonic Phones and most of them were trash. The sellers was 'returnvalue' so now I stay away from this sellers auctions. Someone else here had a problem with 'target', think about it, if target puts about there stuff, it means that they are returns and target can't sell it so it must be junk.

My thoughts

Hi All,
Please take Advice on liquidation.com always get a shipping price, look at the manifiest, dont forget the premier buyer price which is norm about 5% and last but not least look where your buying the products as some of the auctions sites adds state taxes. so have all that in your mind members!

Myself has just won auction on apple i pods from texex and when i had my invoice they added state tax! which when i looked into more that state tax shouldnt have been added as my package was getting sent to Florida. Anyway after several e/mails to them they finally said they where wrong and took the tax off my invoice.
They also was priceing me on shipping to the uk but when i found out about there charges i stoped that and changed shipping to florida for only $40 ! better than $250 they wanted to charge for the uk. but if i never had a second home in usa this would be to pricey for sure.
I Dont think liquidation.com has a good track record in customer service as when i sent payment via wire transfer i noticed from my bank they was short of $5 i called liquidation.com and they said wait until we receive payment and we will e/mail you if theres a problem..and thats all i can get out of them! its like pulling teeth with them!
So now im waiting on see what becomes with me short changeing them by a mizzy $5 i wonder if they will give me a break on this but if not they will want me to pay for another wire transfer which cost $40 to send a mizzy $5 !
Have any members bought apple i pods or short changed them like me? please let me know...was the i pods a good buy?
Please post with any info or comments on this post..
Many Thanks all
Best wishes rheabs

One thing you also have to keep in mind is that liquidation.com is medium sized company doing close to 2 million auctions per year.
They obviously need to have a good staff setup specifically for complaint resolution. But with the sheer volume of sales they have. Im sure they get thousands of complaints or just basic issues they have to deal with.

They are still a great place to buy products but you have to play it smart as they deal in a volitile market.

I have received 4 lots from Liquidation.com and have made back almost all of my money on about 60% of the lots. I am left with 40% to sell and that should be right in my pocket. I am receiving 3-4 lots a week from them and getting rid of them just as fast!

I sold several things on liquidation.com a week ago and have yet to get paid. I've sent several emails and haven't received a response! They charged me $200.00 for a 3 day listing! I was expecting atleast a week long listing for that price!

I noticed you mentioned that your listing
on Liquadation.com cost you 200 bucks

WOW! that a lot of money for 3 days.

I always thought it was free to list. I was
thinking about listing but with that kind
of charge, I can see why some items go for
so much.

Go to ripoff report , i think there is a report on there from a seller discussing the high fees , etc ... For me it was hit or miss .. i bought some stuff from taget and some baby clothes and did ok made soemthing , i lost my butt on some lingerie as i am getting about 70 percent back just dumping it off on ebay but i bought 90 cases of solar lights from there for $15 a case and i have been selling them with shipping on ebay for $95 -110 probaly a net profit of $60 70 .so it will more than make up for the loss on the lingerie .just be carefull as a lot of the stuff is the same sellers and you can look on ebay and see others have bought the stuff cant sell it and are now dumping it off for a loss .... ExAMPLE I told a friend about the site they went there and saw the MOVIE POSTER lots and were telling me how rare they were and i told them the same seller had been selling those lots on there since last november when i discovered the site.

I won 3 auctions. The first auction was "A Grade Xbox One". Second and third auctions were "self-pulls Jewelry and design handbags". I learned a hard ways. I lost almost $2000. Xbox were ended up only two in good condition and the other 4 are broken. I didn't check everything when items were delivered because I believed everything must be in excellent since they all were A Grade. Until I sold them to my customers on eBay and then some of them requested for return. I lost money with Xbox about 50%, however, it is still much smaller if compare to what I lost with the other two auctions handbags and jewelry. I paid for two auctions $1,081. It took me about a month to collect cash only $280. The rest are junks. I can't sell it no matter what. I am totally lost. I ended up owe PayPal not less than $2000. Now, I'm stuck with those junk handbags and jewelry.

Wow, that's hard to read and I'm so sorry you got burnt like that. Unfortunately we heard lots of stories like that when buying sight unseen auctions, especially from sellers without any morals at all. I hope you at least reported the seller to admin of the website to at least alert them of what they were doing.

Sites like that are what is knows in the trade as, dump sites. They're famous places for people who buy large loads of liquidated stock from surplus suppliers, then cherry pick all or almost all of the really good stuff. Then sell what they can, bundle all the rubbish that is left and then throw it on a site like that to get rid of it in one big dump.

I made a decision to donate all those handbags and jewelry to a church, so they can sell them to their members and get cash to buy food to help feed the hungers.

Can I ask a question that's related to all this please ?
It's probably a dumb question, so I apologize in advance !

I'm assuming the further away a supplier is from me, the higher the shipping cost will be ?

I'll be buying clothing and have had past experience buying from a place in Florida. I'm in the Southwest. That was the only supplier I ever bought from and the shipping wasn't so bad.

I'll be looking for supplier within the USA somewhere, not international. Since I'm in the Southwest would shipping likely cost more if I bought from a supplier closer to the East coast ? Maybe it's best o stick to sources closer to my location ?
Thanks very much.

Hi Lori and welcome to the forum,

As a general rule, road transport is always going to be more expensive the further they have to transport the load, however, there can be exceptions to that rule. Back-loading is a term used when the transporter has some left over space they are looking to fill, that can get you a cheaper rate, but you have to of course work in with the transporter as to when they have that space available, so not always practical.

Another option is to find a transporter either from your area doing a run to the east coast and back, they will usually be looking to find some load to bring back home way so they aren't running one way completely empty. Again, you have to work to the trucking companies time frame, so again perhaps not very practical unfortunately.

Still, it never hurts to chase up a few transporters when you are ready to ship, you may well get lucky and find one of those options available to you at the time.

I would suggest listing the pick-up on a site like uShip.com, that puts your job out to tender and then all sorts of transporters get to see it and can post a bid on your job. That's a good option because you never know who sees a listing like that, might even be a family moving cross country with some space in the trailer, maybe a car transporter dropping off a car on the East Coast and heading back home West.

There will be transport options out there that will boggle your mind, so it's always worthy throwing it out there and see what options come up at the time.

Cheers
