Alibaba is starting to become very resourceful for me and I am learning a lot, but I came across a section on their sign up process that asks me to pay for services to become a "verified member." I have no doubt that the whole thing is legit, but want to see if it is necessary for one and for two is it worth it?

Dear Michael Gucciardi,

Thank you for submitting an application to become a Verified Member on As a Verified Member,
you can:

1. Get a Verified logo on your Company Website and products listing pages.

2. Give buyers more grounds to trust you.

3. Have your products displayed before those posted by unverified members.

(Pay now image)
Once your payment is made, we will send the information you have provided to a third-party verification company for the authentication and verification inspection (A&V Check).

Thank you,

Michael Gucciardi

Hi Michael,

Those two questions are probably best answered by yourself really. You're in the best position to judge if it's worth the extra expense to pay for that membership. As a marketing tool, it probably would carry some credibility among buyers I would suggest.

I agree. As a buyer, I would want to make sure that the seller is authentic and have verified.
