How does dropshipping work?

I am totally new in this game.
I would like ,to buy from a dropshipper who will deliver one item which has been ordered to my customer.
I would already have paid the discounted price to the dropshipper and I would receive the retail price from my customer which includes my profit.
I do not want to buy a minimum load of 100 products. I just want the supplier to deliver one item to the customer.
Do all dropshippers work in this way?

Yes, dropshipping shouldn't be confused with wholesale buying. Two very different forms of supply.
