It's business, there's always some degree of risk involved. You would need to research some suppliers and then take a look at the market to work out what your potential margin would be, if any.

i joined salehoo looking for broken ps3's. i was buying them on ebay and selling the working parts to people on ebay who were trying to repair them and sell them. so i have done a lot of research about customer return ps3's.

fudjj is right there is a lot of risk involved and for the amount of money you would need to invest, the profit margin isn't going to be great. having experience with the broken 1's and knowing how to repair them or part them out, even i could probably only make $3000 to $5000 profit from a $10000 purchase. which i would be ok w/ but cant afford. i had it figured out that i could profit off all the working ones and break even off of the broken ones. now if you don't know how to fix them then your going to lose around $50 per broken unit. and if your only making $100 profit per working unit, then there isnt really much profit if any. what your looking into is VERY hard to start of in and you would be competing w/ people who buy them buy the 1000's.

but your on the right track, they say to start off selling what you know and are intrested in. they're right, it helps to get started. but eventually it all comes down to selling anything you can make a decent profit from. if you don't have any luck with what your searching for, move on and search for something else you would like to sell, it takes a lot of hard work but sooner or later your bound to find something

thank a lot.. Video games and apple products are what I know best, but of course authentic apple products with a good profit margin are hard to come buy and video games you must by a high volume to make a good profit. What are other areas that tend to have high returns?

Apple has a minimum distribution quantity of around $100,000, so that will give you an idea of the arena you are looking at playing in. You keep mentioning 'high returns', but you are trying to sell in the biggest online wholesale marketplace in the world, finding something new to sell that offers high returns is like finding rocking horse poo!

Even if you did find something, 24 hours later the other 3 million sellers would also be on to it and your margin would be stripped in an effort to remain competitive.

People do make money on ebay, but only a very rare few would make high returns on a particular product, if any at all.

WELL SAID FUDJJ!!!!!

Its best to find a product with mass apeal , price it at margin that gives good value to the buyer, and a small profit for the seller. this is the kind of product that you can sell over and over.

as far as refurbished items, beaware that the price must be way lower priced than the new item. if its just a matter of 20 dollars or so, the buyer will buy the new item 9 out of 10 times.
