I'm officially brain dead due to research

Ugh. I seriously feel like my head is going to explode from all of the research I've been doing. I'm a self-professed research lover!?! Anybody else feel this way when they were just starting out? The availability of inventory and sources is absolutely overwhelming right now. I want to make the most of the start up funds I have and I'm so worried about making some colossal buying mistake.
Any words of encouragement greatly appreciated and may result in spontaneous baking and shipments of fudge....lol.

If there is even the hint of fudge being involved, then I'll put my encouragement hat on :)

Tell us a little more about the market you are aiming at, and the products you are going to service it with....a basic business plan if you would.

If we have a clear picture of what you are trying to do it will be easier to give accurate input.

Man, if I could sell my fudge I'd be rich, lol!
I just tend to over-research and I think I was just at the brain overload point this afternoon. So far I haven't found anything that just really jumps out at me in terms of buying in quantity wholesale. I'm seeing such tiny profit margins and I'm used to getting a much greater profit margin with what I used to sell. Used to sell vintage clothing, but I'm just totally burnt out on that now. If you know your stuff there is a lot of money to be made in that business, even on ebay.
I have ADD and when I get so much info at one time my head just starts to spin. I don't know what I want to sell. What I do know is that I love working at home, I like being alone while I work, I have a great set up for taking quality photographs of my items, I have some start up capital to invest in some inventory, and I have room to store inventory. and I love to research. Realistically, based on my past selling experience, the most auctions I can handle a week is probably about 50-100. I hate packing and shipping, but have learned I can pay someone to do that for me pretty cheaply.
So, I don't really have a business plan since I don't know what I want to sell. I was just looking for some encouragement that I will eventually come up out of this research haze and things will appear a bit more clearly in terms of what I should be selling.

You have read my mind K22 - looking forward to the reply - my advantage was that you took the time to write the post about how you felt... my ADD is so bad I can't concentrate long enough to do that!

Research is the key to success and unfortunately it never ends no matter how well your business is doing. I still spend a huge amount of time researching for my own company as well as members of salehoo.

The only thing I can say is never give up on your goals. Sometimes it takes a long time to succeed but thats why we are entrepreneurs. With careful planning and research you will do fine

Thanks for the kind words from both of you. I am glad that I enjoy research so much, but even us research lovers get brain mush when we've been at it for too long during any given day, kwim?
I'm concentrating this week on selling off a bunch of inventory that I need to dump, a personal collection really, and that is keeping me busy until I can get my pallet ordered from you Jimmy! And more research in between listing spurts.
I'm feeling more and more positive about sourcing, especially via Jimmy, but less and less excited about ebay and all of the latest bunch of changes. So, I'm continuing to research other selling options as well. I liked either a post or something Jimmy posted about all of the different places you sell your stuff. Very interesting and positive.
Back to the grind.

I'm going to suggest you change your research, get away from the PC and Google all together. Get out to some weekend markets, some charity shops, yard and garage sales, as well as your local on-site auction house if you are fortunate enough to have one.

Freshen your mind by thinking outside the square from the usual product sources that most seem to concentrate on. Take just $50.00 with you one weekend, and I know that if you can talk a good bargain, you will turn that 50 into 100 on ebay easily, with the potential to make huge margin if you are in the right place at the right time, or can haggle well enough.

When was the last time you made margin like that on new products?

I would still stay with what was making me the cash, even if it has become a choir, but freshen it up with a new direction.

:)

Can I be your new best friend fudjj? lol.
I've been spending the last few days preparing for a massive clearance sale and once I gave myself permission to take a break from the research and concentrate on just this one sale I really chilled out a lot. Still working at warp speed, as usual and how I like to operate, but without the powerful urges to get back to researching 1000 different things. Every time I find myself drifting back over to the computer to do anything other than edit pictures I just remind myself of the permission I gave myself to leave it alone for this period of time. Tremendous freedom and the bonus is I'm getting so much more done for this sale than I normally do!
PM me with an address and I really will make you some fudge!

HAHAHAHA, always room for another friend k22, especially one that shoots gun barrel straight, and from your post on steak I just read, they don't shoot much straighter, or more accurately.

Lot of members on here all looking the right advice, and that type of advice is what they should be digesting.

You enjoy that clearance sale, do you very best to ignore that constant magnetic pull of the computer, enjoy the mini break, have some fun and come back refreshed with 150 new ideas :)
