Right now I don't really want to deal with a Tax ID; maybe down the road it's something I would consider if the profit margin is worth it. My problem is, without one there seems to be no value in any of the directory listings. Most prices are at or above RETAIL price - of course selling it makes it impossible. Anything below retail price has very little to no profit - of course those are "knock-offs."

Does anyone have any tips for non-sales tax ID people? Where to look? Etc.

Hi mc_online11,

The reseller license is about tax. :)

This reseller’s certificate or license will enable you to buy products wholesale without paying sales tax. You will then have to, as you are legally registered to, collect sales tax from the end consumers, or your buyers. Those without a resale certificate will have to pay sales tax on goods bought wholesale and then, also need to charge sales tax. They will then need to declare this tax paid when they file tax deductions, so clearly having one will save you from this hassle. :)

Most of the wholesalers will be requiring this sales tax ID or reseller's license before they will sell you the goods. This is because they are legally obliged to determine if you will be able to collect sales tax from your buyers. On the other hand, with the drop shipping method, you will find that many of the suppliers in our directory will not require you to have one when you do dropshipping with them.

You can get your reseller certificate/license with your state tax department, or specifically, from the state in which your business is located. For a couple of states that do not require sales tax, just let the wholesaler know and they may have a different form or requirement for you to complete.

For non US residents, you just need to provide something equivalent in your country, such as for example, ABN or GST registration in Australia.

You can actually filter the directory for those suppliers not requiring any reseller's license. After you type in the product keyword in the search box, click More Options tab, Order Requirements, tick check Tax ID not required. :)

Here are some of the suppliers that came up -

Hi mc_online11,

Welcome to our SaleHoo community :) Glad to have you with us!

I would just like to point out that having a Tax ID does not mean that you will get lower prices from any of the suppliers. Please note that its does not affect a suppliers price at all. But if you are serious about establishing a business on eBay or most other sites then having one is ideal :)

Also, another thing you have to remember is that most of the published prices on a wholesalers website are not necessarily the wholesale price. You see wholesale price will depend on the volume of your order so the more you order the lower the price will go down.

Hope this helps :)

Basically I am looking for a drop-shipper in particular as buying in bulk is very difficult to do at the moment. The only problem I'm seeing is the lack of profit.

Hi again mc_online11

Is there anything in particular that you might in interested? Like any specific product or brand, perhaps. It would be much easier to direct you to the right dropshippers if we knew what to look for :)

Talk to you soon!

Hi Ariella and welcome to the forum

One Tax id should be fine, you can place all your orders through that, no matter how many online stores you have.

Cheers
