Selling to a 'slightly upscale' market is a great way to edge into a given line. With home media, there are lots of cheap to mid-cheap options, lots of super-expensive options, and virtually nothing in the range between those two. A great place to put out your own brand, and you can build them on spec at minimal financial risk to yourself, or even farm out the work to a local computer shop.
