Have you heard.... :x :x

Paypal will be keeping hold of payments for what they class as 'high risk goods' for 21 days, when it's sold on eBay!

We all know how inconsistent eBay/paypal are, so the righ risk items could easily change...How is the average newby going to earn on ebay with this new rule - the plain fact is they WILL NOT!

What do you guys think... :D :(

I'd like to know what they consider 'high risk' items?

transactions fall into the 'high-risk' category. Factors beyond sellers' control, including the number of 'feedback' comments they have from previous buyers and how many of those comments are positive, can trigger the freeze.

I just copied this from a link that a member posted...

Question - if you are not using eBay to sell but you offer PayPal as a payment option on your website will this apply to that as well or is this just for sales on eBay?

I don't know but most likely it will apply because they have control over your funds. By the way designerthriftshop, how complicated was the merchantinc.com? I looking forward to using their service but I read one of your post that you said it's complicated....

This is just another 'cloudy' denifinition that ebay will use to make up the rules as it goes along...They won't define 'high risk' in black and white so they can freeze on anything they deem to call high risk....All being said and done, it's probably just a gimmick to hold on to your money as long as they can...

Hmmmm...I wonder what kind of interest you can gain on a few million dollars in a months time?

This is exactly why ebay sellers need to dump paypal. Paypal was a good thing untill Ebay bought them out right after they filed a 121 million dollar lawsuit against ebay for payment fraud. Funny thing the lawsuit died after the takeover.

You're right Jimmy,

The problem being, ebays done such a good job in brain washing buyers that Paypals safe, they beleive it....but tell me how come there are always scams with paypaL ACCOUNTS?

If you offer an alternative, you do loose sales - that's a fact! What other options are available?? I spoken to my own bank to open a merchant account and they will not cover intangible goods! The only optino I feel is Paypal.

Jimmy, why do you think the lawsuit died?

What can we use instead of Paypal? Any other suggestions from the Forum?

Also read that users of eBay are calling for a boycott of the site from sellers and buyers. They claim 'GreedBay' are squeezing out the 'little guy' and the 'little guys' want to fight back. Did any of the Forum hear any more on the boycott?

This is like the IRS holding the new tax rebates for 21 days because the last name of the taxpayer- a legal American citizen has a foreign name!!!

The lawsuit died because ebay bought the company out and closed the suit. You cant sue your own company. It was a good tactic. If a company is sueing you . buy them out and close the suit.
