Ive heard of them. But type in SMC reviews on google. And you will see a mixed bag of review. I personally know of six people that put a lot into smc with no return.

I just joined about a month ago and am working on a site with their products. I use word of mouth advertising and am getting orders that way. They have over 3,000 products but we will not carry all of them. We pick only the good stuff. Not all of their stuff is great quality. You can take a look at my site here but mind you, it is not close to finished. just type it like this: Link hidden: Login to view

I like the site but your products are really high in price in my opinion. Did you set your own prices at the full retail value?

Our prices are reflective of the msrp and we have sales too. I've finally picked up a great bit.

Funny you should mention SMC. I used to work for them here in Phoenix. You are right, they have a ton of products but eBay & Amazon are totally flooded with them. The best way to work that type of business is what iluvmykids is doing. Sales by catalog or incorporating their things into your own website are great ways to market their products. I also know that flea markets are very profitable. I know they will build you a free website when you sign up with them but that website is total CRAP! You cannot do anything with it. You're better off building your own.

Hi Sale111z and all I just joined SaleHoo and have been reading and learning from the forums I am also a Member of SMC. I just go thrue their catlog and pick out the things I wont to sell I dont just show their catalog becouse their is alot of mistakes in it. Each month thay send a newsletter and in it is the mistakes they find pictures in the wrong place product info wrong. Like Iluvmykids sead not all their stuff is of great quality. I have found looking thrue the suppliers websites here that some of them are just SMC members
with their own website selling at what thay say is wholesale wich is marked up from their cost from SMC so beware of that good luck and good profits all.

There is nothing in the SMC catalouge that cannot be sourced (or at least a very very similar item sourced) from any number of Chinese manufacturers for a fraction of the cost and hassle. The shipping fees on SMC alone were what drove me away from them.

If you're interested in dealing with SMC your much better bet is to hit a flea market, find a booth covered in SMC merchandise and offer the seller a couple hundred dollars cash for all of it. You'll pay a fraction of the SMC price and the guy in the booth will be glad to be out from under it.

Hey guys, does anyone know what the shipping prices are for SMC?

I saw in a previous comment that it was ranging from $7.50-10.00 before, is that still accurate, and how does it vary (ie, is it based off product price and/or destination)?

Also, if anyone could tell me how their fee system works, that would help a great deal. I see they require a annual payment of between $300-400, but I've read they either pressure you or require you to purchase other things on a monthly bases. Such as their catalogs and websites, and there might have been others, I'm not sure.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi BlueSkys21,

I'm not sure about their product prices as well as their shipping rates. But I have heard quite a number of negative comments about them.

Also their membership fee is just too pricey. You can always source the products that they sell. Diligence and perseverance are the key factors you need and you should be able find the products they are offering on your own.

Here are a few more posts that you may find interesting:

Hy richelle,

Thank you for the quick response. I am currently selling SMC's products through another supplier, but of course they are marked up compared to the SMC prices I could find.

The things I need to find out are the shipping prices with SMC and the total fee's they require. I tried calling them about this information, but they seem to be more interested in my credit card number than answering my questions.

With that said, even if I can make a couple hundred more a week, I'm still going to have to decide if I want to deal with that kind of people...

My guess is you only find out about their shipping costs once you join.

Yes, I would also have second thoughts (big time) with service like that. It's always great to have service that's fast and reliable not to mention sincere :)

Cheers :)

I've been with SMC for several years. At first I did well selling online, but ever since they aired their infomercial everyone is selling their merchandise. I think the only way to make money with their products is to sell locally at flea markets, craft fairs, consignment shops etc. But check out these places first, chances are someone is already selling it.

I did SMC way back in their infancy and did ok with it. But the problem was they just infomercialed (new word) the hell out of it so just about 1 person per street in my town was a SMC member pushing their products. It got so bad online with how many people were selling their products, I had to get out. When they raised their annual membership price and porked up the shipping charges I knew I got out on a good note. So on that basis I agree with fm1234 on the shipping.

Now, this was years and years ago. I do not know how SMC is now, their products look like the same imported stuff from China that I probably could get for under a buck, but I could be wrong.

I am glad it works for some of you, but I just can't go back to them.
