Garden Sun Light supplier

I would like to get anyone else's feedback that may have used this drop shipper. (Garden Sun Light)

I have placed 2 orders with the company. The website is well designed for searching items. Prices are very reasonable. And they ship very promptly.

My concern is that when checking out this company does NOT provide shipping prices.

Once you complete checkout, they add the shipping.

On my first order I was surprised to see a notation that "actual shipping costs will be calculated after checkout". Being new to drop shipping and having seen some very poorly constructed websites, I assumed (and I know what assuming does) that perhaps they offered free shipping since it was not on the checkout invoice. I even went as far as emailing the company asking them about shipping costs, with no response.

I received an order from my eBay account this weekend for another product from Garden Sun Light. This time after placing the order I immediately checked my credit card to find out what I was charged. To my horror, I found for a $10.45 item weighing less than 3 pounds being shipped from California to Pennsylvania I was charged $21.15 shipping AFTER checkout. I then went and searched up the first item I purchased about a week and a half ago and found I was charged $15.85 shipping for a nearly identical item weighing about the same weight from California to Georgia again, AFTER checkout.

I wanted to warn any potential customers for this drop shipper about this rather shady business practice and wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar experience with them? Maybe I am missing something or not doing something correctly at checkout.

Will this supplier quote you shipping up front if you provide a zip?

Not that I can see. They ask you what type of shipping you want. You can only choose from UPS, FedEx, Truck, or Other. None show you pricing. Once you select shipping method, you are taken to the payment screen. There you enter your payment information. And in the summary at the bottom under the shipping type I get the message: "Actual rates will be calculated and charged when shipped. We will contact you shortly regarding the shipping rates."

When you complete your transaction you are still NOT informed of how much they charged you for shipping. You have to go back into your account and pull up your orders to see the actual amount you paid.

Like I said, everything about this supplier seems good and straight forward. But this blind shipping charge which, in my personal case, has turned out to cost more than the $10.45 item I purchased. And in 1 of the 2 purchases the shipping was double the cost of the item. Just seems like a very shady way to do business. And I was either hoping I was doing something wrong or Salehoo could look into this practice and perhaps revisit whether they are the type of supplier they want to endorse on their site.

***I wanted to edit this post. The shipping charges are correct according to UPS's website so I wanted to make sure I was clear that they are NOT charging more than what it actually costs, according to UPS shipping calculator (although the calculator does not take into account any special rates the company may have with a UPS account). The rates they are charging seem to be right in line with product weight and zip code.

My problem with the company is that the shipping costs are hidden from the buyer until AFTER checkout. And the only way to see what they are charging is to go back into your account with Garden Sun Light and view the invoice. I wanted to see if any other members have seen this issue or if perhaps I was doing something wrong. After doing a few test checkouts, I don't think I am doing anything wrong.

AGAIN, the company is very good with every other aspect except the hidden shipping costs. So IF anyone else uses this drop shipper you might want to look up the shipping costs with UPS or FedEx prior to purchasing. Garden Sun Light is located in Baldwin Park, CA 91706.

I also wanted to make Salehoo aware of the practices of this supplier to make sure they knew how this company was doing business since they are endorsing this company on their website.

So long as the rates you are being charged are accurate and you have the correct weight and dimensions of the items available to you, then you should be able to use the eBay calculator software.
