Can anybody recommend a wholesale dropshipper that we could be competitive on e-bay with?

Hmm A wholesaler Dropshipper that can compete on a wholesale marketplace? Hmmmmmmmm . I think the only thing you can do is try a dropshipper that has a massive amount of items and maybe you can find some items that does not sell at or below wholesale.
